On September 30, Korean media reported that IU (Lee Ji Eun) had one of her first acting awards as a movie actress at the Chunsa International Film Festival 2022.

IU Could Not Receive Her First Acting Awards at Chunsa International Film Festival 2022 Due to Self-Quarantine
Winning your first award in every profession will always be a moment you can never miss. But, unfortunately, that was not the case for IU.
Despite her first win in acting awards as a full-fledged movie actress, IU was unable to receive the honor in person because she had to go under self-quarantine.
Korean media reported that IU was considered a close contact with COVID-19 patients. That is why she had to undergo self-quarantine while waiting for her test result.

Having been unable to attend her first awards for her incredible acting in the “Broker” movie, IU expressed her apology in a heartfelt voice message.
IU stated that she had been so excited about the ceremony. She had cleared all her schedule so she could return to South Korea just in time for the award ceremony. However, she was suddenly classified as close contact with COVID-19. Therefore, she must cancel all her plans and go into self-quarantine.
Further in her heartfelt message, IU also thanked director Hirokazu Koreeda and all cast and crew of “Broker” movie. She would always keep the award in her memory as a special lifetime event that only happened once. And she promised to improve herself more and become a better actress in the future.
“I would like to give my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved.
‘Broker’ is a piece that gave me an undeserved amount of gifts from the beginning until the end, from various lessons I learned to this amazing award.
Although I cannot greet everyone in-person today, I will reflect on my gratitude today and work hard to become a more solid actress in the future.”

IU Tested Negative for COVID-19
Finally, on October 1, IU’s test result for COVID-19 was out. Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, released an official statement revealing that the PCR test returned negative for COVID-19.
IU will proceed with all her upcoming schedules normally and apologize for having caused concerns to her fans.
