The reason why IU allowed the director to use her “Knees” song for free was because she wrote and composed the song herself. Besides, IU and the director apparently went way back. They have known each other since IU first acting debut in “Dream High”.

“We used IU’s song ‘Knees’ at the ending scene and put ‘Lee Ji Eun’, IU’s real name, in the ending credits. However, in order to do it, we have to purchase the copyright. Only then can we release ‘Knees’ in the drama worldwide.
