The Nation’s Little Sister, IU, is stealing attention at the 2023 Baeksang Art Awards, not because of her winning speech but her not-winning reaction.
A Star with Heart of Gold
Idol-actress Lee Ji Eun, or IU, is often praised for her charms, visual and acting skills, and smooth voice. Since her debut, not only has she shined as a beautiful singer, but IU also gains lots of love as an actress.
Besides her appearance and skill, IU is often admired for her gold heart. UAENA (IU’s fans) called her the “snack fairy” as she often gives snacks to her fans. In 2017, IU made the headlines as one fan revealed that IU gave snacks to fans who greeted her at the airport. It happened again in 2022 when IU returned from the 75th Cannes Film Festival; she handed out chocolates and snacks from Cannes for her fans at the airport.
IU at the 2023 BAEKSANG ART AWARDS
Coming to the 2023 Baeksang Art Awards, IU looked angelic in a simple white dress. She was nominated for Best New Actress for her role in Broker, alongside other big names like Go Youn Jung and Kim Hye Yoon.
Unfortunately, IU didn’t win the Best New Actress 2023 Baeksang Art Awards. Instead, Kim Si Eun won the award for her role in Next Sohee.
From her reaction, Kim Si Eun looked like she didn’t expect the win and was very excited. While the other names who lost were also surprised, they had the “normal reaction” of those who did not win.

Meanwhile, IU gained attention for her wholesome reaction. When the winner was announced, IU looked excited as her mouth formed an “O” shape. Although it was swift, it can be seen that she didn’t fake her excitement and happiness for the winner. Then, she quickly turned to speak to someone about the result.
And IU even congratulated Kim Si Eun wholeheartedly.
