IU appeared on KBS Chuseok special “Tree, Tree” on October 3. The healing documentary followed IU as she wandered and explored a nature preserve on Jeju Island. On that occasion, IU shared about her personal philosophy on the importance of taking a break..
Awed by Nature
While wandering the preserve, the female South Korean singer repeatedly expressed her awe at nature’s beauty. IU walked around the pond known as “the home of fireflies,” and shared about her love of fireflies. IU stated that she was inspired by fireflies for the lyrics of her hit ballad, “Through the Night.”
“I first saw fireflies in a forest while filming a historical drama. I saw something twinkling, so I walked over, and it was fireflies. They were so beautiful. I liked the fireflies so much that I even put fireflies in the lyrics of my song ‘Through the Night,’” said IU.

IU shared her personal philosophy on how to make a decision.

The Need to Take a Break and Heal
Besides, IU opened up about the importance of taking a break for healing.
“I think that to heal properly, you have to stop everything definitively. I feel you need to take a break and rest in order to heal at all.”
IU
Stop Looking Back
Walking around Jeju Cheongsu Gotjawal on a rainy day for KBS Chuseok special “Tree, Tree,” IU shared the way she heals.
“No matter how healthy you eat, if you don’t stop to look back and take care of yourself, you can’t get better. To me, healing is stopping to rest.”

IU Never Regrets
Undoubtedly, when we need to make a decision, there is a possibility that we will regret it. But for IU, she has never had regrets.
“To be honest, I’ve never really regretted a past decision. So, when I think ‘this is it,’ then I just go for it. I tend to stay faithful to my choices. I have no regrets about what I missed in my life.”

More Nature Inspired Lyrics
Like IU was inspired by fireflies, IU said that it’s possible for her to write more lyrics on trees. Could it be a hint of her next album?
“I’ve never seriously thought about trees, but today, I personally walked in the forest and looked at the trees all day long. I think there was a tree in me, too. All trees, big or small, seem like humans, or witnesses who have watched the entire time of the forest. I thought there would be a lot of lyrics and music that I could write while thinking about trees.”
