IVE has recently involved themselves in a controversy regarding their canceled college performance. So what really happened to the rising 4th gen Kpop group, IVE, and what did the agency say about the controversy? Check out the following details.
Kpop Group IVE: Controversy Between Agency and Performance at the Kyungpook University
Kpop group IVE reportedly canceled their scheduled performance at Kyungpook university on October 4. According to the initial confirmation, the Kpop group agency stated that the cancelation of IVE performance was due to VISA issue. And apparently, fans did not believe that VISA was the problem of a Kpop group’s canceled performance at a local university, let alone IVE.
“We have received a cancelation notice from IVE’s label, Starship Entertainment. The agency stated that the group can no longer attend their scheduled performance on October 6 due to a member’s visa issues.”
Kyungpook University committee.
IVE performance at Kyungpook university was supposed to celebrate their fall festival on October 6. However, with the cancelation of 4th gen Kpop group IVE, the festival now only features PALOALTO, Yumdda, Skinny Brown, HOLYBANG, and Bolbbalgan4.
What REALLY Happened Behind the Canceled Performance?
Following the cancelation claim of IVE college performance, Starship Entertainment agency posted a rebuttal about the issue.
Kyungpook University Listed IVE Without Confirmation
According to the agency, Kyungpook University had listed IVE as their performer without confirmation.
While the agency had indeed received invitations from the college, they had confirmed nothing. Therefore, when the agency realized that Kyungpook listed Kpop group IVE performance, they asked to take the group’s name down immediately. But the school gave no responses.
Payment Done in FULL to Starship Entertainment for IVE Performance
Following the statement from the agency of Kpop group IVE, Kyungpook University then clarified that they had made full payment for the performance via a third-party agency.
This agency was the middleman between Starship and Kyungpook. They were the one who conducted a face-to-face meeting and paid the performance fee in full after confirming IVE attendance.
What Caused This Misunderstanding?
Finally, everything came to light when Starship released its final statement about the Kpop group IVE canceled performance.
Apparently, all negotiations regarding IVE performance were conducted through the third-party Mersenne Agency.
This agency was in charge of booking all the artists to perform at the Kyungpook and Keimyung University festivals. First, they received requests from local agencies whose tasks were to book artists for the festivals. Then, they delivered this request to Starship Entertainment.
After receiving requests from Mersenne Agency, Starship found that it was impossible for IVE to perform at both festivals because of their packed schedule. Therefore, Starship did not confirm the requests. So when the company found IVE’s name on the list, they asked to take down the announcement. However, Starship received neither further actions to take down IVE’s name nor any payment for the performance.
Mersenne Agency Apologized for Controversy Between Kpop Group IVE Agency and Kyungpook University
At the same time, Mersenne Agency finally posted their official apology IVE canceled performance controversy.
They admitted that they were behind the misunderstanding that happened between Kpop group IVE agency and Kyungpook University. And all because they wanted IVE to perform at the festivals. That is why they maintained the possibility of IVE performance.
At the end of the day, what happened to Kpop group IVE was neither Starship nor Kyungpook University’s fault. It was simply a misunderstanding caused by the negligence of both Mersenne and the local agencies. If all the third parties clarified that IVE was unable to perform and Starship had returned the full payment, the misunderstand would have not happened.
