Can you imagine BLACKPINK Jennie Kim acting in Korean movies and dramas? The speculation has been circulating online after the BLACKPINK rapper-vocalist recently obtained the trademark for her name, Jennie Ruby Jane. So, does it really mean that actress Jennie is finally coming to the South Korean filming industry with this “JENNIE RUBY JANE” trademark? Dive deeper into the complete discussion below.
BLACKPINK Jennie Kim Acquired Trademark for Her Name, JENNIE RUBY JANE
Prominent rapper-vocalist and global fashion icon of BLACKPINK, Jennie Kim, hints at a new beginning of her solo career activities in South Korea. This particularly creates massive speculation after the alternate name of BLACKPINK Jennie, “JENNIE RUBY JANE,” suddenly emerged in the Korean entertainment industry not long after her vaping controversy died down.
On August 2, Korean media outlet Star News reported that BLACKPINK Jennie had successfully obtained the trademark rights for her English name, “JENNIE RUBY JANE.”
According to the report, Jennie Kim had registered for JENNIE RUBY JANE last month. Previously, she had applied for the trademark ‘JENNIE RUBY JANE’ with the Korean Intellectual Property Office in January 2023. Then, after completing all the examinations, the Korean Intellectual Property Office went through 2 months for objections starting in April. But apparently, the institution decided to register it only recently.
Is Actress Jennie Coming to South Korea?
Previously, BLACKPINK Jennie revealed that her real birth name is Kim Jennie in Korean hangul. However, during her childhood, she once studied in New Zealand, and that’s how she got her international name, JENNIE RUBY JANE.
Throughout her career as a BLACKPINK member, her stage name remains “Jennie.” The BLACKPINK rapper-vocalist only used her “JENNIE RUBY JANE” in international scenes when she collaborated on a project with Porsche as well as during her time as an actress in the controversial HBO series “The Idol.” Although the role had caused her to suffer from numerous controversies, it successfully resulted in her attendance at the 2024 Cannes Festival.
Now, since the name JENNIE RUBY JANE marks an entire persona to Jennie Kim, does the trademark registration mean that actress Jennie is coming to South Korea?
After all, since Jennie is now free from YG Entertainment’s shackles, she can make her own decisions and choose her own career direction under her new agency, ODD ATELIER. Therefore, it is not entirely impossible that this new trademark for JENNIE RUBY JANE hints at the rise of actress Jennie in the South Korean filming industry.
The trademark of JENNIE RUBY JANE applies not only in South Korea but also in the United States.
So, what do you think? Do you think actress Jennie will really be coming to South Korean small and silver screens? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
