2 songs by BTS have been deemed unfit to broadcast that KBS has banned them on their network. Check out the following details about which songs by BTS KBS banned and the COMPLETE reason why the company chose to do so.
KBS Has Banned 2 Songs by BTS to Broadcast on Their Network
Hours approaching BTS 2022 “Proof” comeback album, the millennial King of Pop BTS has to face a challenging obstacle by one of Korean most prominent broadcasting companies, KBS. After submitting their songs for reviews, KBS has banned 2 songs by BTS from broadcasting on their network.
On June 8, BTS submitted 4 of their song to KBS for review. However, once the deliberation process completed, results revealed that KBS had banned 2 songs by BTS because it was deemed unfit for broadcasting.
Which BTS Songs KBS Banned?
Further in the reports by Korean media, BTS has submitted 4 songs from their upcoming comeback album 2022, “Proof,” for deliberation. The four songs included “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),” “Run BTS,” “For Youth,” and “Born Singer”.
However, after the review process completed, KBS decided that 2 of these songs were not cut out for broadcasting. Therefore, KBS decided to ban BTS songs, “Run BTS” and “Born Singer”, from the upcoming broadcast.
The COMPLETE Reason Why KBS Banned BTS Songs
So, are you wondering why KBS banned BTS songs from broadcasting on their network?
Unlike MBC, who banned the megastar and other HYBE artists simply because they were offended, KBS banned these two songs by BTS simply because of their lyrics. According to KBS, both “Run BTS” and “Born Singer” had lyric parts that contained swearings, vulgar words, and crude expressions.
If you look closer at the lyrics, both BTS songs indeed contain words that national broadcasting networks commonly censor. For example, words such as “d*mn”, “sh*t”, and the famous “f” are entirely forbidden, especially for national broadcasts. Therefore, if BTS truly wants to perform these two songs, they must temporarily replace the swear words with more appropriate words.
This issue is actually common for singers, not only in Korea but also internationally. Previously, artists like Avril Lavigne (“My Happy Ending”) and Maroon 5 (“Payphone”) also decided to censor or replace the swearing words within their lyrics with something more appropriate. That way, they can broadcast their songs anywhere more freely.
At the same time, KBS had also decided to put off the review process for another BTS song, “For Youth”. That is because they had yet included the first 30-second lyrics of the sound effects for BTS upcoming show.
Therefore, from the four songs BTS had submitted for a review, only “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)” has passed the screening process and allowed for broadcast.
What About Other Broadcasting Networks?
There has been no update from other broadcasting networks on whether they would also put BTS songs under review. So, BTS will still perform their comeback show on 3 of South Korea’s most prominent music shows for “Proof” comeback album. Their upcoming music show schedule includes Mnet’s “M Countdown”, KBS “Music Bank”, and SBS “Inkigayo”.
Meanwhile, MBC “Music Core” will be the only prominent music show not included in the BTS comeback show.
