Kim Dong Wook, Seo Hyun Woo, and Park Ji Hwan in Talks to Star in New Korean Drama
Actors Kim Dong Wook, Seo Hyun Woo, and Park Ji Hwan will reportedly showcase a hilarious combo in a new Korean drama.
Korean media outlet Star News exclusively reported that Seo Hyun Woo and Park Ji Hwan would soon join Kim Dong Wook as the cast for “Not Very Strong but Charming Violent Crimes Unit”, also known as “Kang Mae Kang”new Korean drama.
As a collaboration between “To the Beautiful You” and the “High Kick” series writer Lee Young Chul and director Lee Kwang Jae, the “Kang Mae Kang” new Korean drama will tell the story of an unexpected combo between the nation’s worst homicide squad members and the most superior leader of an elite team.
Further in the report, Star News also revealed that “Not Very Strong but Charming Violent Crimes Unit” or “Kang Mae Kang” will showcase the exciting synergy between the three members of the unit. The new drama will also incorporate independent stories with its episodes, creating a fresh and fluid dynamic as they encounter new characters and detectives in each case they handle.
This new Korean drama will be the third collaboration between writer Lee Young Chul and director Lee Kwang Jae after “Smashing on Your Back” and “Potato Star 2013QR3”.
Storyline and Characters
In the new drama, actors Seo Hyun Woo and Park Ji Hwan will take on the role of Jung Jung Hwan and Mu Jung Jaeng, the detectives of the homicide division of Songwon Police Station.
Jung Jung Hwan is a former national shooting athlete. After his girlfriend became pregnant out of wedlock, he decided to give up his career and marry her. He then immediately passed the police exam and eventually became a detective.
Meanwhile, Mu Jung Jaeng was once a national judo athlete. He became a police officer after gaining the model citizen title by capturing an escaped prisoner in a bar. Despite his bandit-like appearance, it turns out that he has a weak mind and gets easily influenced by other people. That is why his reputation as the department’s ‘Ace’ only lasted a while. His arrest rate eventually dropped, turning him into a detective hovering at the bottom of the national ranking.
In contrast, Kim Dong Wook will enter the story as Dong Bang Yu Bin. He is the chief of the Songwon Police Station’s homicide squad, who lacks almost nothing. He is tall, handsome, and possesses one of the most outstanding athletic skills. These features even earned him a tenured professorship at an overseas prestigious university.
One day, Yu Bin returned to South Korea and chose to lead the Songwon Police Station’s homicide squad, known for its worst arrest record in the country.
When is the Release Date?
So, when is the release date of Kim Dong Wook’s new drama, “Kang Mae Kang”?
According to Star News report, the new Korean drama will only begin the filming process at the end of October 2023 after wrapping up the casting process. Therefore, please hold your horses, as it may take a while before the new drama releases.
