Kim Ji Won May Return as a Doctor in New Medical K-Drama Series “Doctor X”
According to an exclusive report by Star News on February 14, Kim Ji Won will take on the lead role in the new medical K-drama series “Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia.”
In response to the casting news, the actress’s agency, HighZium Studio, confirmed the report and officially stated,
“Kim Ji Won is positively considering her participation in the drama “Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia.”

Director Lee Jung Rim, known for his work in the 2023 supernatural thriller series “Revenant,” will helm the project. Meanwhile, writer Byun Seong Geun is in charge of the drama’s script. Additionally, Studio Dragon and Studio S will handle the production of this exciting drama series. Some of their hits include “Sweet Home,” “Mr. Queen,” “Ghost Doctor,” “Connect,” “The Alchemy of Souls,” and other captivating series.
About “Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia”
“Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia” is a medical noir drama series. The story follows a genius surgeon, Gye Soo Jung.
Due to her dark past, Gye Soo Jung decides to hide away from the world. However, like a superhero but with a scalpel instead of a cape, she uses her extraordinary surgical skills to fight for what’s right against the corrupt world.
According to the report, the series will begin filming in the second half of this year. Additionally, discussions about airing the series on SBS are still ongoing.
Kim Ji Won’s Potential Role in the Upcoming Drama
If the 32-year-old actress accepts the offer for this noir medical series, she will play the character of a genius surgeon named Gye Soo Jung. This role will also mark the actress’s return to a doctor role after portraying a military doctor in the 2016 hit series “Descendants of the Sun.”
