According to an exclusive report by Kukinews on February 26, actor Kim Sung Cheol was cast as the male lead role for the new K-drama “Goldland.”
In response to this casting news, a representative from Kim Sung Ccheol’s agency, Story J Company, stated to EDaily,
“This is one of the projects he has been offered and is currently under consideration.”

“Goldland” is the reunion project of two famous filmmakers, Director Kim Sung Hoo of “Confidential Assignment”and writer Hwang Jo Yoon of “Memoir of a Murder.”
This upcoming drama will be their third collaboration after “Rampant” and “Confidential Assignment.” In addition to their outstanding work in the movies, the upcoming drama will be their first collaboration in a drama series project.
“Goldland” will mark director Kim Sung Hoon’s third drama project following the success of “Chief Detective 1958,” and “History of Scruffiness.”
Furthermore, Studi Dragon and Lee Chang Films will handle the production of the series. In addition, the drama’s distribution on streaming platforms is still ongoing.
“Goldland” Storyline and Kim Sung Cheol’s Role
“Goldland” revolves around people’s desire for a mysterious gold bar worth 60 billion Won and follows a person searching for a proper life.
The drama is set in “Goldland,” an inland casino in a coal mining region that has suffered from the declining coal industry. The casino aims to revive the local economy.

In this drama, Kim Sung Cheol plays Woo Ki, Hee Joo’s high school classmate, who is affiliated with an organization.
After more than ten years, Woo Ki and Hee Joo unexpectedly cross paths again. Their reunion draws them into the world of gold bars, sparking both internal and external conflicts.
