The cold breeze and long nights are here as we approach the end of the year. In the longer cold nights of quarantine due to this when-will-be-over pandemic, we may be easier to feel lonely. Let’s make this season more lovely and warmer with some soothing Korean ballads.
8 Top Korean Ballads to Warm Your Winter Nights
1. Winter by Park Ji Yoon
With a monochrome landscape of snow and ice, Winter allows us to enjoy the imagery of the MV and its instrumentation. In the second half of the track, melancholic trumpet sounds and soft vocalizations deepen its sense of warmth.
2. Darling by Yang Da Il
It must melt your heart even on cold nights of winter. Featuring a simple piano, Yang Da Il’s full vocals makes Darling sounds like a heartwarming love letter. Darling MV makes the song more touching with its sweet but sad story of love and loss.
3. Alone by Crush
If you need a heartwarming song with smooth as honey vocal, Crush’s Alone should be on the list. Alone was written to soothe those who feel alone in a world of sadness. This is one of one of soothing Korean ballads on my playlist last winter, and with the pandemic here, Alone is undoubtedly on the list again.
4. Here by Ji Jinseok
Using minimal instrumentation, Here allows us to feel the warmth of Ji Jinseok’s powerful, clear vocals. Listen to the chorus with your eyes closed; you will feel this song is captivating and moving.
5. Universe by EXO
EXO’s masterpiece is just like a cup of hot coffee on dark, cold nights of winter. Universe starts with soothing tones, but then it soars like a shooting star during the chorus. We can enjoy each member’s emotion in the lyrics.
6. Winter, Farewell by Lee Sora
Winter, Farewell is a beautiful song that is hard to describe. Listen to Lee Sora’s dulcet tone that blends wonderfully with the piano and acoustic guitar gentle sounds.
7. It’s You by Shin Yong Jae & f(x) Luna
It’s You is sweeter than the candy canes and Christmas cookies. Light melody, delicate and dreamy vocals, lovely lyrics are the best companion for you to curl up in a blanket during cold nights.
8. I Will Go to You Like the First Snow by Ailee
The original version of I Will Go to You Like the First Snow is definitely a must for your winter playlist. However, check out the duet Ailee did on Fantastic Duo 2 below:
