The prestigious 2024 Korean Music Awards concluded with Beenzino, NewJeans, KISS OF LIFE, Silica Gel, and other talented artists clinching major accolades. Hosted on February 29th, the event was live-streamed on The Prizm Entertainment’s website at 8pm KST.
Since it started in 2004, the Korean Music Awards (KMAs) has been renowned for celebrating a diverse range of Korean music genres including K-pop, inde, rock, R&B, hip-hop, metal, folk, and jazz.
The KMAs’ awards are chosen by a panel of esteemed judges, including music critics, radio producers, academics, and industry professionals, without sales figures influencing the results. Among the 25 awards presented, three Daesangs (Grand Prizes) are given each year for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Musician of the Year.
This year’s Album of the Year was clinched by hip-hop artist Beenzino for “Nowitzki,” while Korean rock band Silica Gel was crowned Musician of the Year. K-pop powerhouse NewJeans secured Song of the Year with “Ditto,” making them one of the evening’s standout winners alongside Silica Gel, with both acts receiving three awards each.
