In 2012, SM Entertainment’s KPop group EXO was releasing its first debut “MAMA.” Last April 8th, EXO celebrates the 8 years of its official debut. During those eight years, the group has experienced the peaks and valleys in the KPOP world.
EXO’s Debut
KPop group EXO begins with 12 members in its debut and two subs-units, EXO-K and EXO-M. Unfortunately, three of the members left in 2014 – 2015. Those are Lu Han, Kris Wu, and Tao, who are now pursuing their career in singing, acting, and modeling. The loss of three members changed the composition of the members from twelve members to nine members.
EXO’s Achievements
Now, the active members of the group are Suho, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, Xiumin, Lay, and Chen. After losing three members, they have to struggle to keep their existence in the KPOP industry. For eight years, they are working hard to maintain their performance.
Fans and media agree to dub them as the King of K-Pop for their achievements. Such as being in the top five of Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list from 2014 to 2018.
Then, they also won Daesang for five consecutive years in 2013 – 2017. On January 16, 2018, they also had made a legacy as their song “POWER” is the first Korean song that played on The Dubai Fountain in Burj Khalifa Lake, Dubai.
The release of the “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” album also marks the EXO group as the first KPop idol group that passes 10 million of total album sales in South Korea. Many of their songs even reach the music charts many times, such as Love Shot, Overdose, Monster, Ko Ko Bop, Obsession, and many more.
Eight Years of the Journey
On the 8th anniversary of their debut, the members of KPop group, EXO, were giving gratitude to their loyal fans through their social media accounts. They hope, EXO celebrates their 8 years of their journey in KPop world with their loyal fans, EXO-L.
