LE SSERAFIM Faces Controversy for Alleged Provocative and Inappropriate Dancing in UNFORGIVEN Album
Kpop 4th generation princess LE SSERAFIM has recently made its stunning comeback with UNFORGIVEN album. Breaking the boundaries and raising an even more powerful theme, LE SSERAFIM invited the listeners to stop being powerless and stand up for themselves.
This wonderful theme gave birth to one of the most inspiring comeback albums this year. And it’s truly no wonder that the group managed to surpass BLACKPINK in their first-day sales record.
Still, despite the amazing concept they have pulled off in their performances, LE SSERAFIM has apparently faced controversy for UNFORGIVEN.
What Happened to LE SSERAFIM UNFORGIVEN Dancing Controversy?
An online community raised a question on May 5 regarding LE SSERAFIM latest choreography for UNFORGIVEN. According to some netizens’ comments, LE SSERAFIM dancing for UNFORGIVEN was too provocative, creating a slight controversy. Some even said that parts of the dancing were simply the recycled version for ANTIFRAGILE
Firstly, the parts where Chaewon and Kazuha danced on the floor were deemed unnecessary and awkward. Not to mention that Chaewon and Kazuha were born in 2000 and 2003, making them too young to perform such provocative moves.
The next controversy on LE SSERAFIM dancing was the part where Yunjin performed shimmying choreography. South Korean netizens questioned the move because it seemed strange and out of place.
And the last and most problematic in LE SSERAFIM UNFORGIVEN dancing controversy was Eunchae’s part. As LE SSERAFIM’s maknae, South Korean netizens believe it was inappropriate for Eunchae to perform such provocative moves. After all, born in 2006, Eunchae is still 16 years of international age today. She is still considered an underage minor to be performing such adult choreography.
Who’s the Choreographer?
Naturally, the online communities did not raise criticism towards LE SSERAFIM members. In fact, LE SEERAFIM princesses were the ones saving the performance with their brilliant talents and outstanding stage presence.
Instead, all these criticisms were for the choreographer who designed LE SSERAFIM concept and dancing performance.
So, who is the choreographer behind LE SSERAFIM UNFORGIVEN comeback album?
According to the official Instagram of LE SSERAFIM UNFORGIVEN performance director Park So Yeon, she and Todd Williamson created the choreography.
In addition, Park So Yeon and assistant director Yoon So Young have been taking part in preparing LE SSERAFIM’s various choreography in the past, including their impressive MMA and MAMA Music Awards 2022 performances.
Finally, what do you think about this controversy LE SSERAFIM is facing about their dancing in UNFORGIVEN comeback album? Do you think they’re too provocative and inappropriate as well?
