The road seems to be rocky and challenging for Kpop 4th generation girl group, LE SSERAFIM. Following the previous continuous scandals, it will seem to take a while for the group to bounce back. Even worse, LE SSERAFIM is now facing more controversy following the recent release of “CRAZY” album. So, what happened to LE SSERAFIM? And will the members finally rise above everything and reclaim their former glory in the Kpop scene? Join us in a deeper discussion below.
Kpop Girl Group LE SSERAFIM Faces More Controversy Following “CRAZY” Album Release
Kpop 4th generation girl group and HYBE’s beloved princess LE SSERAFIM is facing yet another controversy following the release of the “CRAZY” album comeback.
A while ago, after facing major controversies and backlashes involving live singing, repeated plagiarism, and dramatic documentary, LE SSERAFIM made an impressive comeback album titled “CRAZY,” featuring a title track with the same name. Korean media describe the song as a fun EDM track that mixes minimal tech house beats with some urban-style rap, giving it a fresh and unique vibe.
While the “CRAZY” title track itself has been a massive hit among fans, the B-side track “Pierrot” received a negative spotlight with new backlashes and controversy.
In various Korean online communities, the public raised the issue of dropping the names of prominent Kpop soloists IU and Lee Hyori. Apparently, the lyrics of LE SSERAFIM’s “Pierrot” contain the names of these two famous singers.
Not only that, but the lyric also mentioned fans’ favorite Kpop everlasting divas, Kim Wan Sun and Uhm Jung Hwa. All the names appeared in the song’s lyrics in a similar context, questioning who would become the next big star after this name.
Criticisms from Korean Netizens Against “Pierrot” Lyrics Cause – LE SSERAFIM “CRAZY” Album Drops in Sales
Indeed, it seems like the name-dropping was supposed to pay homage to all the Kpop stars. However, fans are criticizing the lyrics for being old-school and cringey, causing LE SSERAFIM’s album to massively decline.
- “IU and Lee Hyori, wow. LOL, they probably felt a bit awkward singing that.”
- “The lyrics are one thing, but the current performance isn’t great… NewJeans, aespa, and IVE are always at the top despite the competition, but LE SSERAFIM can’t even break into the top 50, even when there’s hardly any competition. Did the producers get distracted? How did the rankings end up like this? LOL”
- “Those freaking ahjussi vibes are really making me cringe…”
- “Ugh…Who came up with these lyrics?”
- “The lyrics feel really outdated.”
- “These lyrics… are just not good…”
- “LOL. Where’s that confidence coming from?”
- “Did they just group together singers who’ve reinvented themselves and hint that they’ll be next? — But those lyrics, though…”
Even though the “CRAZY” title track and music video have received lots of love from fans— with the video hitting over 15 million views in just a little over a day and the track debuting at #34 on the MelOn Daily Chart—this excitement hasn’t really shown up in the album’s physical sales.
Following the album release, LE SSERAFIM “CRAZY” has been evidently dropping compared to the group’s previous comebacks.
Previously, LE SSERAFIM’s album sales had been on a steady rise, starting with their debut “FEARLESS,” which sold 176,861 copies. Their next release, “ANTIFRAGILE,” jumped to 408,833 copies, and “UNFORGIVEN” hit an impressive 1,024,034 copies.
While “EASY” didn’t top the charts, it still did quite enough with 783,358 copies. The number was especially impressive as a new generation Kpop girl group.
And yet, “CRAZY” could not keep up with the momentum. This new comeback album sold only 195,264 copies on its first day—less than a quarter of the first-day sales from their previous albums. It was truly a massive drop in the album performance, especially after all the issues and scandals the group is facing.

The Kpop Girl Group is Making It Even Worse with Allegedly Inappropriate Promotions
And yet, the group has been making the issue even worse with more reported inappropriate promotions.
On August 31, LE SSERAFIM’s Eunchae shared a fun Instagram story showing off a sticker for their latest release that she spotted on an elevator door.
This IG story immediately blew up on the popular online forum Pann, accusing Eunchae and LE SSERAFIM of copying a move that NewJeans had previously done during aespa’s Armageddon promotions.
Back then, NewJeans’ move was to clarify that the girls were not involved in the horrible dispute between HYBE and Min Heejin. In fact, aespa’s Karina even teamed up with NewJeans’ Minji on the sly to sneak aespa comeback stickers around the HYBE building.
The Unsettling Future of Kpop 4th Generation Girl Group LE SSERAFIM
Now that LE SSERAFIM is allegedly doing similarly, Korean netizens claimed that the HYBE Kpop girl group had done it on purpose. Even worse, since Eunchae is close to aespa Karina, netizens accused LE SSERAFIM of backstabbing aespa.
With more controversy coming and coming even after LE SSERAFIM impressive performance in the “CRAZY” album, the future is truly unsettling for this Kpop girl group.
- “LE SSERAFIM are really pushing it this time. They even slapped a sticker on an expensive tumbler and signed it. That’s got to be annoying for the staff. Hey, LE SSERAFIM fans, maybe it’s time to take a good look in the mirror.”
- “Didn’t LE SSERAFIM fans go after NewJeans and aespa for doing something similar? I distinctly remember them criticizing Minji and Karina for putting things up in public spaces. And now Eunchae is doing it, too?”
- “And the best part? The elevator isn’t even at HYBE; it’s at MBC… ? LE SSERAFIM fans who were so quick to bash SM for putting up flyers at HYBE are suddenly quiet. ?”
- “Wow, isn’t this the same thing that people were using to mock Minji and Karina on that forum? I wonder what they’ll say now.”
- “Weren’t LE SSERAFIM fans the ones who were really harsh on aespa and NewJeans for this before? ?”
- “Haha, this is too funny. Let’s upvote this comment. These are the exact words LE SSERAFIM fans used. It seems like LE SSERAFIM are really good at turning the tables.”
Finally, are you worried about LE SSERAFIM too? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
