In the middle of preparing for his upcoming reunion with Lee Se Young in the new drama, “Love According to Law”, Lee Seung Gi finally shed some light on the rumors revolving around his dating relationship with girlfriend Lee Da In.
On June 5, actor Lee Seung Gi personally posted an official statement via his official website. In the statement, Lee Seung Gi explained what had really happened during last year’s controversy and his current dating relationship status with girlfriend Lee Da In.
“We [Lee Seung Gi and his fans] have hurt each other and been hurt by each other so much over the past year, and I believed that it was because there was not enough communication.
Therefore, after deliberating for a long time, I’m speaking up now.”

What REALLY Happened?
These past two years have been a roller coaster ride for Lee Seung Gi and his fans, Airen. After stating his departure from Hook Entertainment last year, Lee Seung Gi was bombarded with various rumors, especially following the confirmation of his dating relationship with girlfriend Lee Da In.
Following the dating relationship reports between Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In, some fans began openly expressing complaints and disappointments. That is because actress Lee Da In’s father had been involved in a stock manipulation controversy back in 2009 and 2018. Apparently, one of Lee Seung Gi’s fans was one of Lee Da In’s father’s fraud victims, while others believed that the relationship would damage Lee Seung Gi’s reputation.
Immediately after these controversies went viral on the internet, Lee Seung Gi revised his decision and decided to form a mutual relationship between his Human Made agency and Hook Entertainment. That was when rumors started circulating that Lee Seung Gi and his girlfriend Lee Da In had broken up.

When the issue and controversy went viral, Lee Seung Gi chose to remain silent. The reason behind his silence was because he didn’t want to hurt anyone. After all, it was a time when he would naturally become a little bit emotional due to all the allegations. Therefore, he kept silent to prevent a larger misunderstanding.

I believed that I wouldn’t have been able to convey my thoughts through emotional words accurately. Besides, I was worried that it would result in an even larger misunderstanding and hurt if it had happened that way.”

That is because he believed that even if he decided to speak up at the time of the incident, his statement would become just another meal ready to cook and twisted into more rumors and issues.
“Secondly, if the conversation between us [Lee Seung Gi and fans] were to leak out and be twisted into the second round of rumors, there would only be more hurt. Besides, it would also be used as fodder for gossip.
That is why I didn’t speak up despite some people asking me to give a concrete statement. I hope you understand.”

Are Lee Seung Gi and Girlfriend Lee Da In Still in Dating Relationship?
Finally, Lee Seung Gi assured fans that the rumors about his breakup with girlfriend Lee Da In were not true.
In his statement, Lee Seung Gi mentioned that there had been no changes in his dating relationship with Lee Da In since it first emerged last year. And Lee Seung Gi asked for his fans’ apology and understanding for all the discomfort he had caused them.
“However, since there hasn’t been any change in my personal affairs after the initial relationship news last year, I did not give any additional statements about it. Also, I did not feel any pressing need to either.
So, I apologize if you felt upset by this, and I want to comfort you guys. I truly hope that you will benevolently be understanding and blame it on my shortcomings.”
