Imagine what it’s like when you’re out there celebrating the birthday of your beloved furball when suddenly someone criticizes you for something that’s entirely your choice! Korean singer Lim Young Woong had just suffered such an unexpected ambush after his Instagram DM went public and caused massive controversy, especially amidst the political chaos and the impeachment protest against President Yoon Suk Yeol. And yet, you might wonder, was this controversy accurate? Or was Lim Young Woong only a victim of fake news? Join us as we dive into what happened to the prominent singer.
Lim Young Woong Criticized via DM Amid President Yoon Suk Yeol Impeachment Controversy: Possible Fake News!
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, as well as the choice of whether or not they want to voice their opinions on any issue. And yet, most prominent Korean singer, Lim Young Woong, recently faced intense criticism through his Instagram DM, which then resulted in unexpected controversy.
On December 7, Lim Young Woong uploaded a post on his Instagram, celebrating his pet dog Siwol’s birthday. He posted an adorable photo with the caption, “Happy birthday to our Siwol.”
And yet, due to this post, someone reportedly sent Lim Young Woong a direct message (DM) criticizing his action amid the political protest against President Yoon Suk Yeol impeachment controversy.
Here’s the translated conversation by the sender (S) in the Lim Young Woong (LYW) DM controversy:
- S: “What are you doing at a time like this?”
- LYW: “What?”
- S: “The entire nation is gathering in response to the impeachment motion of a president who declared martial law unconstitutionally. I don’t expect you to speak out, but you seem completely indifferent. Aren’t your fans mostly the older-generation people who experienced martial law in the past?”
- LYW: “Am I a politician? Why should I voice my opinion?”
This DM exchange quickly blew up after the netizens shared it on their X account (formerly Twitter), and before long, the controversy of Lim Young Woong started spreading like wildfire. Things got even messier when rumors claimed the netizen who sent the DM was a well-known TV producer who’d directed a hit variety show.
Was it REAL or Fake News?
This incident immediately ignited a heated debate online. Some people believe everyone has the right to decide whether or not to share their political views. In contrast, others argue that focusing on personal posts instead of addressing the situation feels tone-deaf, especially during such a politically charged time.
As of this time, Lim Young Woong hasn’t made any official comments on the situation. Even when Korean media Xports News tried to reach out to his agency, Mulgogi Music, for a statement, they stayed silent.
On the other hand, the producer in question jumped in to clear things up on their own account. He posted a statement, clearly frustrated about the false accusation.
“I don’t even follow Lim Young Woong. Why on earth would I target him? It’s ridiculous. I was just talking to my friends… I don’t know anything about his daily life.”
The Alleged PD.
Not only that, but what makes it highly suspicious is that the netizen who first shared the DM suddenly deleted their post on X.
Therefore, many are now questioning whether Lim Young Woong has become a victim of fake news amidst the political chaos and the ongoing impeachment protests against President Yoon Suk Yeol. The fact that the original post has now been deleted only adds to the suspicion, leaving people wondering if the entire DM exchange even happened in the first place.
So, what do you think? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
In the meantime, let’s enjoy Lim Young Woong’s beautiful voice in “Warmth” MV.
