On May 30, the Korean Business Research Institute released May’s brand reputation rankings for the most popular Korean stars, including entertainers, singers, trot singers, Kpop idols, movie stars, drama actors, and sports figures. May 2024 Top 100 Korean Star Brand Reputation Rankings

The Korean Business Research Institute collected 230,510,827 pieces of big data related to star brands from April 30, 2024, to May 30, 2024. Using the latest big data, they conducted consumer behavior analysis to assess star brands’ participation, media, communication, and community indexes. However, compared to 246,858,165 pieces in star brand big data in April, there was a 6.62% decrease from

1. Lim Young Woong

Korean beloved trot singer Lim Young Woong, who showcased the hero era with his 2-day concert “IM HERO – THE STADIUM” at Seoul Sangam World Cup Stadium, clinched the top spot. The singer’s brand reputation index climbed 17.28% from 8,087,862 in April to 9,485,159 in May, with the following indexes:

• Participation Index: 1,755,381 
• Media Index: 2,372,236 
• Communication Index: 2,541,005 
• Community Index: 2,816,537

2. IVE

K-pop girl group IVE, acclaimed as a positive icon and leading the Kpop girl group brand rankings this month, secured the second position with a brand reputation index of 6,123,143 in May. This number marks a significant 74.37% increase from April’s brand reputation index of 3,511,572, with the following indexes:

• Participation Index: 674,314 
• Media Index: 1,550,609 
• Communication index: 1,973,324 
• Community Index: 1,924,896

3. Ma Dong Seok

Actor Ma Dong Seok from “The Roundup,” who has set a record as a triple-million actor, secured the third position in the May Korean Star rankings. Impressively, the actor’s brand reputation index surged by 128.90%, escalating from 2,636,266 in April to 6,034,312, with the following indexes:

• Media Index: 1,315,357 
• Communication Index: 1,849,699 
• Community Index: 1,790,216

4. Byeon Woo Seok

Rising star Byeon Woo Seok, who built a strong fandom as an actor helping to fight the Monday blues (“I hate Monday”) through his appearance on “Lovely Runner,” claimed fourth on this month’s Korean star brand reputation rankings. The rookie actor’s brand reputation index experienced a significant increase of 73.48%, climbing from 3,346,014 in April to 5,804,762 in May. According to the analysis, the actor gained the following indexes:

• Participation Index: 1,942,842 
• Media Index: 1,022,863 
• Communication Index: 1,603,862 
• Community Index: 1,235,196

​5. Kim Soo Hyun

“Queen of Tears” actor Kim Soo Hyun, a world star who has captured the hearts of fans with his expressions, secured the fifth spot this month. Despite a decrease in ranking, the actor retained a position in the top five with a brand reputation index of 5,617,081. This number marks a 20.39% decline from April’s brand reputation index of 7,056,168, with the following indexes:

• Media Index: 1,032,895 
• Communication Index: 1,747,212 
• Community Index: 1,545,181
