According to a JTBC Entertainment News team report, nine members of LOONA – Heejin, Haseul, Yeojin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye – have filed an application to suspend their exclusive contract with Blockberry creative.
LOONA Members to Suspend Their Exclusive Contract with Blockberry Creative
It was reported that the nine members of LOONA decided that there is no longer a relationship of mutual trust between them and Blockberry Creative. Except Vivi and Hyunjin, the members took action and filed an application for a provisional injunction against the agency to suspend their exclusive contracts. However, Blockberry Creative denied the report.
“They are not true.”

Is It Related to the Removal of Chuu from LOONA?
The decision came after Chuu was officially removed from the group due to “abuse of power.” Blockberry Creative previously announced that Chuu was expelled from the group.
“We’re announcing our artist Chuu has been expelled from LOONA as of November 25, 2022. There were many stories about Chuu, but the company and members of LOONA did not say anything for a time to prevent problems concerning the development of the team and fans. Because of LOONA’s affection for the team and consideration of the fans, they tried their best to show good performances and content rather than telling the truth.
We recently investigated Chuu’s abuse of power, including abusive language toward our staff. The company’s head is currently apologizing and comforting staff. We decided to take responsibility and remove Chuu from LOONA. We sincerely apologize to the fans who’ve loved and supported LOONA until now and ask for your forgiveness that the 12 members couldn’t stay together until the end. We and LOONA will do our best to make sure nothing like this happens in the future.”

Fans and Other K-stars Defend Chuu
Regarding the alleged “abuse of power,” LOONA fans defend Chuu, saying that it is impossible for a person like Chuu to do what was mentioned by the agency. Fans even pointed out how Blockberry Creative mistreated Chuu during the contract.
Before the “abuse of power” controversy, it was known that Chuu was in conflict with Blockberry Creative over the settlement in revenue. It started when Chuu mentioned she was not properly paid any of the revenue, although she had filmed many advertisements and shows.
“Chuu speaking out against being overworked and mistreated, and BlockBerry calling her abusive. I need that company shut down.”
Netizen
Not only that, but the writer behind “Chuu Can Do It” also spoke up defending Chuu, saying, “Power abuse, that’s really funny. Even when it was tiring for Chuu, she was someone who worried in case the staff wouldn’t get paid. Once I got frustrated and said, ‘Hey, Chuu. Worry about about yourself first.’ She’d say that having gone through this herself and knowing how hard it is, she couldn’t bear seeing that. Everyone knows she didn’t have the proper care. Regardless she’ll be fine since she treats others so well.”
“I always remember that every time we had a photo shoot how Chuu would give me a warm hug and energize me. The warmth of the LOONA members. I’m always rooting for you w.th love.”

What Will Happen to LOONA?
Considering the nature of LOONA debut, where one member debuted with a solo single every month for a year since October 2016, fans believe that each member has different contract starting and end dates. As a group, LOONA’s seven-year contract actually began in August 2018, when they released their debut album (+ +). If the nine members win their reported contract lawsuit with Blockberry Creative, it is highly likely that LOONA will no longer be able to carry out any group activities.
In the meantime, here is an old “Chuu You Can Do It” video, released a year ago which went viral again recently:
