Are you looking for international films that are inspired by Kpop? These 4 Hollywood Films are definitely for you.
Must-Watch Kpop-Inspired Hollywood Films You Should NEVER Miss
1. Turning Red
The animation from Disney Pixar, Turning Red, is the first film inspired by Kpop you must watch. Released in March 2022, the story follows a 13-year-old Chinese Canadian student, Meilin “Mei” Lee. She lives with her parents, but she hides that she and her three best friends are fans of the boy band 4★Town.
4★Town is a boy band consisting of 5 members, and one of them is a Korean named Taeyoung. The director Domee Shi revealed that 4★Town is inspired by the Kpop boy groups Bigbang and 2PM, whom she was a fan of as a student.
Turning Red is a lighthearted yet moving film for all ages that we can watch with our family. It also shows what fangirling over a boy group really looks like.
2. Kpop: Demon Hunters
The next must-watch film inspired by Kpop is from Sony Pictures Animation, which is still in the works. Kpop: Demon Hunters (tentative title) is a story of a world-renowned Kpop girl group whose members are secretly bad-ass demon hunters.
If you’re looking for a film with action, fashion, food, and music, Kpop: Demon Hunters is one that you have to look forward to. The co-director, Maggie Kang, is a Korean and a die-hard Kpop lover.
3. Seoul Girls
One of the Kpop-inspired Hollywood films starring and directed by Rebel Wilson is set to be released at the end of this year. Seoul Girl follows a Korean-American high school girl and her friends who enter a worldwide talent competition to be the opening act for the world’s biggest Kpop boy group.
With help from an ex-member of a British girl group and a former Kpop trainee, Seoul Girls finds their voices on the world’s biggest stage. Though there are pros and cons about this film, Kpop fans who are eager to meet their bias group might be interested in giving it a watch.

4. Kpop: Lost in America
Last but not least, the high-anticipated CJ ENM‘s Hollywood film Kpop: Lost in America has been reported to cast big names, such as Rebel Wilson, Charles Melton, and of course our Kpop star Cha Eunwoo. The film will hit theaters in 2023.
Kpop: Lost in America follows a Kpop group that becomes stranded in Texas days before their American debut at the Madison Square Garden in New York. We will see how the group makes their way to The Big Apple without phones and money.
“We plan to cast K-pop stars in addition to icons in the pop industry to appeal to a global audience.”
