Nam Ji Hyun and Moon Sang Min to Star in the New Historical Drama “Dear Bandit”
On October 24, Star News exclusively reported that Nam Ji Hyun and Moon Sang Min have been cast as the lead characters in KBS2’s upcoming drama “Dear Bandit.”
Rookie author Lee Sun wrote the script for the drama. It gained public recognition after winning second place in the drama script contest held by Studio Dragon in 2020.
“Dear Bandit” shares a theme similar to the recently reported project “The Moon Flows Over the River” (working title), a historical drama adaptation of the hit series “Secret Garden.” Both dramas will explore the theme of soul exchange.

The upcoming Korean historical drama “Dear Bandit” blends fantasy, romance, and comedy elements. It revolves around the love story between a woman who becomes a bandit and a Joseon nobleman who pursues her. Both characters experience a soul-swapping adventure and work together to save and protect one another.
In the drama, Nam Ji Hyun plays Hong Eun Jo, a girl born to a noble father and a slave mother. She leads a double life and takes the secret identity of ‘Hong Gil Dong,’ a thief who steals from the granaries of corrupt officials to help the common people. As Hong Gil Dong, she conceals her true identity as a woman while navigating a world filled with harsh rumors.
Moon Sang Min plays the role of Prince Lee Yeol. The character is known for his outstanding appearance, upright posture, and natural dignity. As a nobleman with a keen interest in detective work, he passionately searches for Hong Gil Dong’s true identity. This pursuit transforms him into a straightforward man with a sharp intellect. Unbeknownst to him, he encounters Hong Eun Jo while investigating Hong Gil Dong’s real identity. He falls in love with her at first sight.
Nam Ji Hyun and Moon Sang Min’s First Collaboration
Nam Ji Hyun and Moon Sang Min recently completed their projects in 2024. The actress recently starred in SBS’s hit legal drama series “Good Partner” alongside Jang Na Ra. Meanwhile, Moon Sang Min appeared in Coupang Play’s rom-com drama “Cinderella at 2 AM” with Shin Hyun Been.
If both actors confirm the news to star in the exciting new drama “Dear Bandit,” it will mark their first collaboration. Furthermore, this project will mark Nam Ji Hyun’s comeback to the historical genre since “100 Days My Prince” in 2018.
Similarly, this will also mark Moon Sang Min’s return to the historical genre following his role in “Under the Queen’s Umbrella” in 2022. Additionally, the actor is set to make his highly anticipated big-screen debut in a film titled “Pavane for the Dead Princess.” He will work alongside Byun Yo Han and Go Ah Sung in this romantic melodrama.
