Actors Nam Joo Hyuk and Roh Yoon Seo are reportedly set to star in the upcoming drama “Donggung” (literal title).
Nam Joo Hyuk’s management company, Management SOOP, responded to the reports by stating,
“Nam Joo Hyuk is currently considering the proposal to join the new drama “Donggung.”However, no final decisions have been made at this time.”

Moreover, the MAA agency has also stated Roh Yoon Seo’s casting news, remarking,
“Roh Yoon Seo is currently in discussions to take on a role in “Donggung,” but as of now, no official decisions have been made.”

Furthermore, according to the reports, director Choi Jung Gyu will direct the upcoming Korean drama series. Some of his famous works include “Two Weeks,” “The Devil Judge,” and “Soundtrack #2.”
“Donggung” (동궁) Storyline
The upcoming period fantasy drama “Donggung” follows the story of ghost slayer Goo Cheon and court lady Saeng Gang as they attempt to solve issues within a mysterious palace. Along the way, they encounter various ghosts in the palace.

If Nam Joo Hyuk and Roh Yoon Seo accept the offers, the upcoming drama will mark their first collaboration.
According to the reports, actor Nam Joo Hyuk has received an offer to portray the character of Goo Cheon. Goo Cheon is not just an arrogant ghost slayer but a unique one who can morph into a ghost and combat other spirits using a sword.
Following his military service since March 2023, Nam Joo Hyuk is set to be discharged on September 19, 2024. Should he accept the role in the upcoming drama “Donggung,” it will signify his comeback to acting after his appearance in “Vigilante“ in 2023.
Furthermore, rookie actress Roh Yoon Seo is currently in talks to portray the character of Saeng Gang. She is a court lady who is not only sassy and straightforward but also impressively well-read, like a scholar. Additionally, she has a mysterious gift for communicating with ghosts and harbors extraordinary secrets.
If she accepts the offer, the upcoming period drama will be her first foray into the period genre. It will also serve as her comeback project as the main lead following her acting debut in “Our Blues” in 2022. In addition, this upcoming drama will be the new drama of Roh Yoon Seo following “Black Knight.”
