“‘Lovely Runner’ doesn’t need Netflix. It was Netflix who needed ‘Lovely Runner’.” – this is the famous saying among avid fans of the Korean drama. Many weeks after “Lovely Runner” official release date, Netflix eventually gave in and decided to broadcast the Korean drama very soon.
Netflix Finally Announces Release Date of “Lovely Runner” Korean Drama
Among all the Korean drama lineup titles this year, “Lovely Runner” has been the unexpected dark horse that has taken the communities by storm. Despite all the challenges and criticism for its classic rom-com genre, “Lovely Runner” has become the top series that received the most attention, creating its own syndrome worldwide.
And the most amazing part is that “Lovely Runner” managed to achieve such success without the help of prominent OTT platforms, including Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime.
Apparently, one of these platforms, Netflix, has shown clear signs of regret for their decision.
Previously, when “Lovely Runner” was still buzzing among global Kdrama fans, especially with the dating rumors of the main couple, Netflix just joined the bandwagon. They posted some clips of the main cast, Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon, using all the series broadcasted in the platform, without “Lovely Runner.”
This action then turned the platform into a laughingstock among fans. They believed that it was shameful for Netflix to profit off “Lovely Runner” after deciding not to release the Korean drama in the first place.
Today, Netflix decided to save its face.
On July 15, the official Instagram account of Netflix K-Content revealed the official release date of “Lovely Runner” Korean drama.
“‘Lovely Runner’ is coming to Netflix on August 1.”
Netflix.
Along with the release date, Netflix also posted some still cuts of “Lovely Runner” Korean drama. While some of these still cuts have long circulated on the internet and social media, Netflix has added a few of its own.
Giving In to the Syndrome
Although this series might later be available for specific countries only, this only proves that the Sol-Jae syndrome of “Lovely Runner” is immensely powerful. Not even the platform Netflix was able to hold back and refuse to join this viral trend.
It was one thing to acquire the broadcasting right before the release date of a project, but Netflix decided to purchase the right to air “Lovely Runner” after the series went viral, which surely has massively increased the product’s value.
Fans specifically pointed out that with the massive popularity of the drama, Netflix might have to pay a lot of fees to broadcast this series.
Therefore, it only proves that Netflix does need “Lovely Runner,” and all its related syndrome. They must officially broadcast “Lovely Runner” even after the price increase to generate more revenue from the series.
Loll netflix biggest lesson of the year : NOT TAKING LOVELY RUNNER. Great job netflix!! My biggest curiosity is how expensive do you pay the right to air lovely runner? 🤣🤣🤣 i am relieved now i can rewatch lovrun in peace without ads 💛💙 https://t.co/0gZbwp0ZHu

Lovely runner defeated qot while not even being in Netflix. Netflix I believe have you pay higher amount for getting it in their platform seeing the popularity. We do understand the insecurity https://t.co/fXdq8FdNhL
