On July 13 (KST), the Emmy Awards officially announced its nominees for this year. Netflix blockbuster “Squid Game” and its cast are among the nominated candidates on Primetime Emmy Awards nominations list in 2022.

The First Non-English Language Series to Earn Emmy Awards Nomination
“Squid Game,” a Netflix original series that premiered in September 2021, gained massive attention from the audience worldwide. The Korean survival drama created a global phenomenon and became Netflix’s most-watched series of all time. In addition, the Korean series has received multiple awards; the most recent one was the SAG award for ‘Best Male Actor,’ won by Lee Jung Jae, and “Best Female Actor,” won by Jung Ho Yeon.
This year, the Netflix “Squid Game” continues to make history as it has been nominated for Emmy Awards with 14 nominations. In addition, the Korean survival drama series also created a new record by becoming the first non-English language in Emmys history for an outstanding drama series nomination.
The series also received nominations for top awards such as “outstanding directing for a drama series,” “outstanding lead actor,” and “outstanding supporting actress/actor.” And it’s nothing but green lights for “Squid Game” cast members Lee Jung Jae, Jung Ho Yeon, Park Hae Soo, Oh Yeong Su, and Lee You Mi to receive nominations for Emmy Awards 2022.
