New Korean Drama “Newtopia” Release Date Announced
On December 11, Coupang Play announced the highly awaited release date of the new Korean drama “Newtopia,” previously known as “Influenza.” Along with the release date, the OTT platform also released the latest stills of the series.
Storyline
Kang Young Joo is an engineering graduate known for her beautiful appearance, which earned her the nickname “Goddess of the Engineering Department” in college. After graduating, she started working as an employee in a company.
In contrast, Lee Jae Yoon is a man who struggles with weakness and lacks confidence. He enlisted in the military at the age of 26 while seeking alternative service by working in the defense industry. He is worried about his girlfriend’s future, which leads him to break up with her, believing it is for her own good.
When Kang Young Joo finds out about the breakup, she follows Jae Yoon to the military base. She is determined to save their relationship. However, a sudden zombie attack occurs due to a dangerous virus of unknown origin that spreads rapidly and turns those infected into zombies.
As chaos spreads, the couple struggles to reunite and fight against the threats of the zombie outbreak to avoid infection.
Through this tragedy, Jae Yoon is transformed. He begins to overcome his weakness and lack of confidence. Moreover, He gradually takes on the role of squad leader in the fight for survival.
“Newtopia” Main Cast and Characters
The new Korean drama series “Newtopia” features Jisoo from BLACKPINK, Park Jeong Min, and Kim Joon Han as the main cast.
Jisoo portrays the character of Kang Young Joo. Park Jung Min plays the character of soldier Lee Jae Yoon. Yet, there is no information regarding Kim Joon Ha’s role in the show.

“Newtopia” Release Date
Directed by Yoon Sung Hyun, known for his work “Time to Hunt,” the new action thriller Korean drama “Newtopia” will premiere on February 7, 2025. The series will be available to watch on Coupang Play and Prime Video.
