Set against the historical backdrop of Goguryeo, “Queen Woo” is an action historical drama that follows Queen Woo’s struggle to secure her position as the queen of Goguryeo.

Following King Gogukcheon’s sudden death, five factions and princes of Goguryeo are vying for the throne. Queen Woo, who finds herself at the center of a deadly power struggle, decides to keep her position and secure the throne.

She has 24 hours to marry one of her younger brothers-in-law to survive and save the throne. However, she must leave the palace to crown the new king and fight against those who seize the throne.

1. Second Work of Writer Lee Byung Hak

The upcoming Korean historical drama “Queen Woo” is a captivating second project from the talented writer Lee Byung Hak. The drama features an impressive A-list cast and follows his first successful work, “The Royal Taylor,”  in 2014. This captivating historical drama starred stunning actors, including Yoo Yeon Seok, Go Soo, Han Seok Kyu, Ma Dong Seok, and Park Shin Hye.

2. First Drama Series Project of Director Jung Se Kyo

“Queen Woo” marks director Jung Se Kyo’s directorial debut in a television series. He made his first directorial debut with the heartwarming Korean movie “Oh! My Gran” in 2020, which starred veteran actress Na Moon Hee, known for her role in the Korean film based on the actual event “I Can Speak,” and actor Lee Hee Joon from the recent hit movie “Handsome Guys.“

In addition to his directorial debuts, he has worked as an Assistant Director for several films. These include “Like Father, Like Son,” “Good Bye Mom,” “War of the Arrow,” and “Perfect Game.” Interestingly, he also showcased his acting skills. He made guest appearances in the movies “Like Father, Like Son” and “The Sundays of August.”

3. Set to Release in 2 Parts

The highly anticipated Korean historical drama “Queen Woo” will be released in two parts. TVING will release Part 1 of the series on August 29 and Part 2 on September 12. New episodes will be available every Thursday, for a total of 8 thrilling episodes. Viewers can watch this captivating series on TVING, tvN, and Paramount+.
