ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin Faces Controversy for NewJeans “Cool with You” MV
The success of Kpop 4th generation rookie, NewJeans, has been long forecasted after knowing that prominent Kpop producer and ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin would handle the concept. However, it doesn’t mean the artists are free from controversies and backlashes.
On July 20, ADOR released the 2 versions of NewJeans “Cool with You” MV on HYBE Labels’ YouTube Channel. The video immediately went viral not only because of its unique cinematic concept, but also featuring global superstars Jung Ho Yeon and Tony Leung.
Unfortunately, despite the outstanding performance of NewJeans members and the impeccable appearances of the global stars, “Cool with You” MV has faced massive criticism from the public. And it was all because ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin has once again pushed for inappropriate images into the girls through overly-sexual scenes.
Overly-Sexual Scenes in NewJeans “Cool with You” MV: What Happened?
NewJeans “Cool with You” MV depicts a particular love story from a woman’s point of view. The actress who played the female lead was none other than model-actress Jung Ho Yeon.
As the story unfolded, Jung Ho Yeon, the lead character, became enticed by a man. She followed the man anywhere he went, even though her existence appeared invisible.
Then, approaching the end of NewJeans’ “Cool with You” Side A MV, lead character Jung Ho Yeon entered the man’s bedroom. Dressed in black leather outfits, the character approached very close to the man on the bed. Due to the scene’s settings, atmosphere, and the characters’ gestures, fans assumed that the particular scene represents two people making love.
While this scene may seem ordinary to common eyes, the issue lies in the fact that NewJeans members have been present throughout the MV. The 5 members of NewJeans observed the female lead’s actions in the entire “Cool with You” MV, including the “bed scene” moment.
What’s even more shocking is that after realizing that the 5 NewJeans members were watching her, lead character Jung Ho Yeon rushed outside and started taking off her clothes. She then bore herself naked in the rain as she expressed her emotions.
Again, what’s problematic about this scene is that all NewJeans members were present, observing the story as it unfolds. And the fact that most of NewJeans members are minors makes the controversy even worse.

Upon the release of NewJeans “Cool with You” MV, a fan specifically pointed out the above scenes and commented, “Ummm..???????” signaling that something was questionable about them.

After that, many fans voiced similar issues by quoting and replying to the Tweet. They blamed ADOR’s CEO Min Hee Jin, for pushing certain inappropriate images to NewJeans members who are still underage.
After all, ADOR’s CEO Min Hee Jin has frequently faced controversies of glamorizing pedophilia. Previously, lyrics for NewJeans’ single “Cookie” had even allegedly contained inappropriate meanings. And today, the ADOR CEO had the members—whose ages are between 15 to 19 years old—observing such overly-sexual and inappropriate scenes.
That is why fans are heavily criticizing ADOR’s CEO Min Hee Jin for pushing such a concept in NewJeans “Cool with You” MV. They wished Min Hee Jin would wait until the members turned into full-fledged adults before giving them such mature concepts.
