On December 29, 2024, the Jeju Air tragedy occurred when a domestic flight from Seoul crashed near Muan International Airport. The disaster claimed 179 lives, marking South Korea’s deadliest aviation incident.
In light of this tragedy, South Korea announced a 7-year national mourning period from December 29, 2024, to January 4, 2025, to honor the victims and support their grieving families.
