Storyline
The story follows Kim Dokja, an average office worker in his 20s. He is the sole reader of an obscure web novel titled “Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse.” After finishing the final chapter and feeling disappointed with the ending, he emails the author to express his thoughts. Suddenly, the fictional world of the novel becomes reality, and he finds himself thrust into the very apocalypse he knows well, with no exit.
To survive and navigate this new reality, Kim Dokja uses all his knowledge about the story’s plot, survival methods, and future events. Dokja teams up with the novel’s protagonist, Yoo Joonghyuk. Yoo Joonghyuk has a unique ability: “regression.” With this ability, he can reset and repeat events after death, living like an immortal hero.
As the sole reader who knows the novel’s full story, Kim Dokja must recall the crucial things that unfold in the web novel and use them as foresight to create a new ending, ultimately saving the world.

Ahn Hyo-seop as Kim Dokja
Kim Dokja, the main protagonist, is an ordinary man and the sole reader of a web novel “Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse.” His life dramatically changes when the fictional world of the novel becomes reality. As the only person who knows the story’s full story and future events, he possesses the unique ability to potentially change its ending. To survive this new, dangerous reality, he forms a crucial partnership with the web novel’s original protagonist, Yoo Joonghyuk, joining forces with other key figures in this expedition.
Director Kim Byung Woo shared that actor Ahn Hyo-seop is the best fit for the character of Kim Dokja. He added that he believes Ahn Hyo-seop possesses both universal and unique characteristics, making him ideal for the role.
The actor, Ahn Hyo-seop, shared his perspective,
“I wanted to express an ordinariness that everyone can relate to.”
He further commented,
“As the characters each mature in their own way and upgrade their weapons, I feel as if we will all root [for the characters] together.”
Lee Min-ho as Yoo Joonghyuk / Yu Joong Hyeok
Yoo Joonghyuk is the original protagonist of “Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse.” Aside from his striking appearance, he is a mighty warrior with a regression ability. This special ability allows him to return to a previous point in time after death.
Regarding his character Yoo Joonghyuk, Lee Min Ho explained that he focused on showing his personality through actions, gaze, and facial expressions. He shared,
“His power is ‘regression.’ Even after he dies, he comes back to life, living life like an immortal. However, the character has to feel like a real person so that the adventures of Dok Ja and everyone else in the movie feel believable.”
Chae Soo-bin as Yoo Sang-ah
Yoo Sang-ah is Kim Dokja’s coworker, who starts the journey in the fallen world with him. Sang-ah quickly adapts to a world full of battles for survival. And she becomes Dokja’s source of great strength.
Chae Soo-bin shared about her character in the film,
“From all the characters, Sang-ah makes the most realistic judgment. However, I tried to keep her character balance from coming across as unlikable. She’s also a character who supports others to keep moving forward.”
Shin Seung-ho as Lee Hyung-seong
Lee Hyung-seong, a former military lieutenant who is known for his strong defensive powers. In the web novel, he is one of the important figures under the command of Yoo Joonghyuk.
Regarding his character in the film, Shin Seung-ho shared:
“I am really looking forward to seeing the movie, “Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy,” once its production is completed.”
He added,
“The character Lee Hyung-seong is someone who brings about adrenaline.”
Nana (Im Jin-Ah) as Jung Heewon
Jung Heewon, dubbed a goddess of justice, is known for her decisive actions and excellent strength.
Regarding her character, Nana shared,
“Heewon is a character who showcases fast-paced and stunning action. I did a lot of challenging action scenes, especially the wire stunts, which were incredibly thrilling. I dedicated myself to action training to fully showcase her powerful movements.”
Jisoo (from Blackpink) as Lee Ji-hye
Lee Ji-hye is also one of the characters from the web novel. She is a high school student who follows Yoon Junghyuk and calls him “Master.” She possesses incredible strength as she overcomes numerous crises together with Yoo Joonghyuk.
About her character, Jisoo said,
“I tried to portray a character who is good at adapting to a continuously changing situations and has a good judgment to quickly graps reality.”
Kwon Eun Seong as Lee Gil-yeong
Lee Gil-yeong is a little boy who has a special ability to communicate with insects.
About his character, Kwon commented,
“Lee Gil-yeong’s most significant appeals are his cuteness and confidence.”
He also shared insights into the creative process. He said,
“Every time the director gave me direction, he would ask for my thoughts, and that’s how his character’s signature pose was made.
Park Ho-san as Gong Pil Du
Gong Pil Du, the main person who controls a vital safe zone, a place whose existence is more crucial than the coins needed to survive.
Choi Young-joon as Han Myung-oh
Han Myung-oh is Kim Dokja and Yoo Sang-ah’s opportunistic boss. His selfish and manipulative nature makes him a character designed to provoke the audience’s emotions.
Jung Sung-il as Chu In-ho
Chun In-ho, a two-faced National Assembly member who governs the Geumho Station area. In-ho hides his true colors behind a friendly demeanor and a commanding presence. He uses his loyal followers to antagonize Kim Dok Ja and his allies.

2. Bihyeong: A dokkaebi (Korean goblin) who appears to deliver the scenarios to the characters. They manage the scenario system and act as merchants, trading information, weapons, and items for coins.
3. Coins: The main currency in the novel’s world. Each character will get coins after completing scenarios. Coins are a crucial thing for survival. They are used to upgrade character stats (like strength or agility) and purchase necessary items and equipment.
4. Constellations and Sponsor: Powerful beings from beyond Earth who observe the scenarios. They can choose to become “Sponsors” for specific characters, offering them support in the form of skills, resources, or equipment to help them survive and overcome challenges.
