As we might all know, Baskin Robbins hires BTS to represent its August flavor. They finally have unveiled a product called “BTS 7 Cake.” Although ARMYs all over the world are excited, the BTS 7 cake got criticized by the netizens for being overpriced.

On July 2, the ice cream company’s Korea branch announced that Baskin Robbins hires BTS as a brand ambassador to promote August’s flavor.
The American ice cream chain operated by SPC Group in Korea had its representative to release the statement, “We believe August will be more special for Baskin Robbins with BTS.” The official also added, “We have captured BTS’s charms in the advertisement to make you forget the summer heat, so do look forward to it.”
BTS 7 Cake Flavors
The “BTS 7 Cake” consists of 7 ice cream flavors and is shaped like number 7. The flavors are “Mom is an Alien,” mint chocolate chip, blueberry cheesecake, “Shooting Star,” almond bonbon, cookies and cream, and “BerryBerry Strawberry.” Some of the flavors sound weird, no?
BTS 7 Signal Light
With the “BTS 7 Cake”, Baskin Robbins also launched a goods promotion called “BTS 7 Signal Light.” Limited amount of those who pre-order a BTS 7 Cake will get the BTS 7 Signal Light. However, you can also purchase the BTS 7 Signal Light for 3,900 Won (around US$3).

Baskin Robbins stated, “The ‘BTS 7 Cake’ is a new handmade product with 7 different ice cream blocks. Because manufacturing costs are higher than ordinary products, we’re only producing and selling a limited amount of 30,000.”
ARMYs Think the Cake is Overpriced
Despite the excitement of the 7-shaped-cake, ARMYs think the cake is overpriced. One BTS 7 Cake costs 26,000 Won (around US$22). Yet, the size (713 ml) is smaller than the other cakes at a similar price.

On the other hand, another fan stated, “I think that [because] it’s Baskin-Robbins and custom, it’s more expensive. My mom got a Baskin-Robbins mint chocolate chip cake and asked them to make the BTS logo in the middle for my birthday a few years ago, and it was about 24 USD, so I’m not surprised.”

Regardless of the complaints from ARMYs and some others of being overpriced, BTS 7 Cake is ‘surging in popularity,’ proven by numerous pre-orders placed already.
