The Oscar-winning Parasite director Bong Joon Ho is in talks to direct the next sci-fi film based on Edward Ashton’s upcoming novel Mickey7 for Warner Bros, with Twilight star Robert Pattinson in talks to star.

Director Bong Joon Ho is a South Korean director who made award history. Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite movie in 2019 became the highest-grossing South Korean film in history. It also swept the Oscar for best director, best picture, and best original screenplay in 2020. In addition, the black comedy thriller became the first non-English language movie to win the best picture at the Oscars.
Parasite was directed by Bong Joon-ho and penned by Han Jin-won. The story is about a poor family who disguises themselves as unrelated and highly qualified individuals when employed by a wealthy family.
After almost two years of winning the Oscar with Parasite movie, director Bong Joon Ho has found his next film. As reported by the news media outlet, Deadline, the South Korean director Bong Joon Ho is in talks to script and direct the untitled sci-fi film for Warner Bros, which will be adapted from the forthcoming novel, Mickey7, written by Edward Ashton.
Director Bong Joon Ho will produce the next film via Offscreen, Dooho Choi of Kate Street Pictures, Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner of Plan B, and Peter Dodd will oversee on behalf of the studio.
Bong Joon Ho’s Next Film is Based on “Mickey7” by Edward Ashton
St. Martin Press, an imprint of Macmillan, will publish the upcoming novel Mickey7 in February 2022. According to the book’s publisher, Edward Ashton’s high concept science fiction thriller, Mickey7, is best described as Andy Wier’s The Martian meets Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter.
The story follows an “expendable” employee, Mickey7. He is a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Mickey7 is sent to the most dangerous jobs. When one iteration dies, a new body is rebuilt, with most of his memories intact. One day, Mickey7 goes missing and is presumed dead. But when he returns to the mission’s base, he finds a clone, Mickey8, has taken his place. He then refuses his clone to take over his position.

Robert Pattinson is in Talks for Warner Bros’ Next Sci-Fi Film
