Brilliant and talented actress Park Eun Bin has finally secured her first win at Baeksang Arts Awards 2023. And not only that, but she also managed to take home the event’s grand prize, also known as Daesang. Still, even though it was such a marvelous achievement, the actress has reportedly been facing criticism from a South Korean cultural critic. So, what happened behind Park Eun Bin and her Baeksang Arts Awards moment? Check out the following report for the complete story.
Actress Park Eun Bin Received Criticism Regarding Her Speech at Baeksang Arts Awards 2023
After years and years of noteworthy acting performance and hard work, South Korea’s brilliant actress Park Eun Bin finally secured her long-deserved win at the 2023 Baeksang Arts Awards.
And more impressively, the former child actress managed to take home the most prestigious title of the event: the Grand Prize, also known as the Daesang. And she received recognition for her outstanding performance as autistic lawyer Woo Young Woo in Extraordinary Attorney Woo drama.
While everyone rejoiced at her first Baeksang Arts Awards victory after countless nominations in over two decades of career in the Korean entertainment industry, Park Eun Bin still reportedly received absurd criticism.
And the criticism came from a South Korean poet and cultural critic named Kim Gap Soo.
Kim Gap Soo Slams Park Eun Bin and Her “Manner” at Baeksang Arts Awards 2023
Xports News reported on May 2 that South Korean poet and critic Kim Gap Soo slammed Park Eun Bin and the way she accepted her win at Baeksang Arts Awards 2023.
Kim Gap Soo attended Jung Young Jin, Choi Wook’s Maebul Show on episode May 1 and discussed the topics surrounding Baeksang Arts Awards 2023.
During the broadcast, Kim Gap So criticized some celebrities and their acceptance speech at the award ceremony. However, he particularly mentioned Park Eun Bin, slamming her behavior after her Daesang win announcement at South Korea’s most prestigious award.
According to Kim Gap Soo, Park Eun Bin should not have shown too much emotion at the award ceremony. The poet/critic also specifically stated that Park Eun Bin should have taken Song Hye Kyo as an example because of how Song Hye Kyo handled her acceptance speech.
“Park Eun Bin is a veteran actress. She will continue doing well in the future. However, she kept wiping her nose and crying heavily while receiving the award.
You should not trigger emotions in front of others in any situation. She’s an amazing actress, so I’m saying this with a loving heart.
But after they announced her as the winner, Park Eun Bin bowed more than 30 times as she walked toward the stage. She kept bowing, and as the fanfare played, she began to cry. What kind of manner is that?
You’re not 18 anymore. You’re already over 30. So, you should keep your sense of dignity. Learn from Song Hye Kyo.
Tang Wei’s and Song Hye Kyo’s behaviors are textbook level. So please take a look and learn from them.”

More Criticism, No Apology
Due to his absurd statement and criticism, the public began criticizing Kim Gap Soo for comparing Park Eun Bin to Tang Wei and Song Hye Kyo. Therefore, it is outright inappropriate to make any comparison between these excellent actresses.
However, Kim Gap Soo apparently thought otherwise.
In a further statement reported by iMBC Entertainment on May 3, Kim Gap Soo simply explained that he didn’t intend to attack Park Eun Bin. Instead of apologizing, the poet/critic only clarified that he wanted to point out that acceptance speeches began to lose their meaning these days.
“Two things I mentioned about the ceremony: one is that acceptance speeches now lack meaningful contents. Another one was that celebrities must at least control their emotions when in the spotlight.
It’s been too frequent that people express their feelings through tears only.
I had no intention of attacking Park Eun Bin. I simply mentioned her as an example because she was the one winning the Grand Prize, the most discussed figure lately.
This ceremony was broadcast live worldwide. I hope celebrities understand that the whole world is watching them crying, sniffling, and bowing repeatedly because they have zero speech delivery and simply couldn’t control themselves.”

Your Thoughts?
Finally, what do you think of this absurd criticism against Park Eun Bin and her Baeksang Arts Awards 2023 speech?
Park Eun Bin had just received her very first Baeksang Awards win after more than two decades of career in the Korean Entertainment industry. However, despite her dedication and impressive talent, the actress is also famous for having the most kindhearted and humble personality. So, it may have been truly unexpected and shocking for her to actually win a Daesang at the awards ceremony.
So, do you think it was excessive for her to express her emotion at the time? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
Meanwhile, Park Eun Bin recently gains new title as “Ad Queen” as she joins OKF Beverage for their new product, Aloe Vera King. They will distribute the product worldwide in 180 countries.
“Park Eun Bin’s clear and plump image perfectly fits the soft and pleasant image of Aloe Vera King, and will be highly noticeable during this advertising campaign. That’s why we selected her as our brand’s exclusive model.
OKF marketing official.
Now, as we’re waiting for her upcoming drama and “idol” debut in Diva of the Deserted Island, let’s watch Park Eun Bin’s wonderful acting in Extraordinary Attorney Woo once again.

Song Hye Kyo has received many kinds of awards in her life, and receiving an award at Baeksang might be a normal thing for her now.
Remember, this is PEB's first win at Baeksang and she received the BIGGEST award! It's normal for her to be surprised and show her emotions.
Actresses are not robot. They are human. They have emotions and have their rights to express their emotions.
I tried to find out the video when SHK first received her awards, but didn't find it. If any other readers found it, please give me the link here.
However, I am sure when SHK receive her first award she showed the same response as Park Eun Bin.
I completely agree with you.
I don't understand why this old man had to say what he said. It's clear that he's looking for exposure. Maybe he wants to be globally known? Lololol...
Haha...that old man does not have understanding, using his own standard to judge and think how people should behave.
It is Park Eun Bin win, it is her speech, she has the right to express herself whether cry or not cry it is up to her and i am glad she did what she did, absolutely her right not the old man, she need not consult the old man and need not to compare herself with others like shk, like the old man did.
Well using his way of comparision, a lot of old people are more mature and understanding than that old man, only immature people likes to compare, maybe since young he was being compare often hence got this mentality.
Who cares? This night and the highest Award was about her, Park Eun Bin and ONLY her. This is/was HER NIGHT.
This is ABOUT HER. Not about him or society in general. She can talk about anything. She can even talk about how a neutron star in the Andromeda Galaxy explodes, if she wants to. Who cares?
This is not about an idiot, old man with outdated opinions, tyring very hard to be relevant.
She is entitled to cry and bow as much as she wants and react with her heart and sincerity. That actually makes her unique compared to other actors because of her transparency, humble nature and lovely persona. I think this criticism is unnecessary and exaggerated. She does not deserve to receive such a comment. Had it been in the US or Europe, her reaction is completely normal. It shouldn't be encouraged to repress emotions just because one is older in the industry.
