Park Hyung Sik and Heo Joon Ho Confirmed to Lead SBS’s New Korean Drama “Treasure Island”
On September 13, SBS officially announced that Park Hyung Sik and Heo Joon Ho would lead in the upcoming drama “Treasure Island” (literal translation). Lee Myung Hee, the writer of “Money Flower,” will pen the script, while director Jin Chang Gyu, known for his work “Military Prosecutor Doberman,” will take the helm.

“Treasure Island” is a thrilling political drama. It tells the story of Seo Dong Joo, who breaks into a secret political fund that worth about 2 trillion won, around $1.5 billion. In a shocking turn of events, Yum Jang Sun, the fund’s owner, who is a secret power broker, kills the man without knowing that he has been hacked. However, Seo Dong Joo cleverly concealed the money before meeting his fate. This staggering sum remains hidden like a buried treasure, forever entwined with the hacker’s untimely demise.

Seo Dong Joo is the Public Affairs team leader for the chairman of Daesan Group. From the outside, he presents himself as a loyal “Daesan man.” But deep down, he has the ambition to seize every opportunity to take over Daesan Group.
The upcoming show will be Park Hyung Sik’s new drama after “Doctor Slump.” The actor is also reportedly in discussions to star in the new drama “Desperado.”
Heo Joon Ho as Professor Yum Jang Sun
Yum Jang Sun is a wealthy and powerful professor. He is a former Head of the National Intelligence Agency (NIS) who can control decision-makers from behind. He secretly controls the entire society and enjoys his ability to move people to his will like puppets.
The upcoming drama “Treasure Island” will be Heo Joon Ho’s comeback drama after “Bloodhounds” in 2023.
