Netflix Sets the Release Date for Popular Korean Occult Movie “Exhuma”

On June 17, Top Star News reported that the Korean movie “Exhuma” (파묘) will premiere on Netflix on July 15, 2024.
The movie premiered at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on February 16, 2024, and then hit cinemas on February 22, 2024. Within a mere 32 days of its release, it attracted over 10 million viewers, earning the prestigious title of the first ‘Ten Million Movie’ for the year.
Written and directed by Jang Jae Hyun, the Korean supernatural horror film has emerged as the highest-grossing Korean film of 2024. As of June 18, 2024, it has already raked in over $83 million at the Korean box office. Furthermore, the movie has secured the sixth spot among the all-time highest-grossing films in South Korean cinema history.
The movie received 4 awards out of 8 nominations at the Baeksang Arts Awards 2024. Director Jang Jae Hyun was honored with the Best Director Award, while Kim Go Eun clinched the Best Actress Award. Additionally, Lee Do Hyun was recognized with the Best New Actor Award, and Kim Byung In received the Technical Award for Audio.
Storyline
A Korean family in America is worried about their first child’s problem. They seek supernatural help as they realize it’s not just about health. To solve the issue, they offer a large of money to two Korean shamans, Lee Hwa Rim and Yoon Bong Gil.
The shamans join forces with feng shui expert Kim Sang Deok and mortician Ko Young Geun to investigate the family’s mysterious tomb. They discover even stranger and more significant events as they dig into the secrets of the family’s mysterious tomb.

Lee Hwa Rim is a gifted shaman from a lineage of shamans in her family.
Choi Min Sik as Kim Sang Deok
Kim Sang Deok is a geomancer. He knows ancient practices related to history, people, places, and nature well.

Yoon Bong Gil is a rookie shaman who is skilled in incantations. He works with Lee Hwa Rim, who helped him recover from his illness before he became a shaman.
