Road to Queendom
In 2019, Mnet released a popular survival show series of Kpop idols with the first show, “Queendom,” with the subtitle “Comeback Battle.” It was a great competition of Kpop female idols to win the Queendom crown. The first season involved six girl groups like Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, Mamamoo, (G)I-DLE, 2NE1’s Park Bom, and AOA.
Queendom was followed by another great competition of Kpop male idols, “Survive to the End,” with the subtitle “Road to Kingdom” in 2020. The show involved seven male idol groups: Golden Child, The Boyz, Pentagon, TO1, ONF, Verivery, and ONEUS.
Then, “Survive to the End” followed by “A New Legends Begins” with the subtitle “Kingdom: Legendary War”’ in 2021. The show was successfully captivating many Kpop fans. The show featured popular boy groups like iKON, SF9, Ateez, Stray Kids, BTOB, and The Boyz.
Following the fantastic success of the survival show series, a sequel to “Queendom” will be broadcast again this year in “Queendom 2.”
Queendom Season 2
On December 14, 2021, Mnet confirmed to release the sequel of “Queendom” sometime in 2022. The news has made kpop fans excited and wondering which girl groups they would like to take part in on the show.

In previous survival show series, famous Korean celebrities led the shows. Starting from actress Lee Da Hee (Queendom), TV personality Jang Sung-kyu (Road to Kingdom), TVXQ’s Changmin and Yunho (Kingdom: Legendary War). This year, MNet “Queendom Season 2” will have Girls’ Generation’s leader Taeyeon as the host.
On January 25, the production team shared,
“After a successful debut in 2007 through the global girl group Girls’ Generation, Taeyeon has become a musician who has maintained her position as a top solo artist for 16 years in the music industry while being recognized as an accomplished vocal queen with her diverse and rich musical world.”
They continued,
“Taeyeon is a representative musician who is leading global K-pop, and she has many fans at home and abroad. Above all, she is a role model that junior girl groups want to emulate, and we expect she will take on diverse roles outside of program hosts.”
Girl Groups Lineup
Earlier, Korean media reported that VIVIZ, ITZY, Brave Girls, and Kep1er are still in discussion to appear on MNet ‘Queendom 2.’
In response to the report, the representative of ‘Queendom 2’ explained, “It is true that we are exploring several girl groups, but nothing has been confirmed yet.”
Many Kpop fans speculate and expect their favorite girl groups included in the “Queendom Season 2” lineup. In addition, eagle-eyed fans spot some clues for the upcoming “Queendom Season 2’ girl groups lineup.

“QUEEN IS BACK!” Teaser, Release Date, and How to Watch “Queendom Season 2”
The first teaser clip of “Queendom 2” was released on February 3, 2022. It announced that MNet’s ‘Queendom Season 2’ will air its first episode on March 31 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
On February 23, MNet released a new teaser featuring Taeyeon from Girls’ Generation, the host of the Queendom Season 2. In the video, she regally invites the participants into the spotlight and encourages them to make the next move.
You can watch the survival show series on Mnet’s channel and TVING app. It will also be live-streamed online on Mnet’s YouTube channel with English subtitles.
