Despite receiving nomination in the “BEST POP DUO/GROUP PERFORMANCE” category of Grammy Awards 2022 for their song “Butter”, BTS canceled their US trip following the postponed award ceremony for a practical reason.

On January 6, BIGHIT MUSIC officially confirmed that BTS had canceled their trip to the US after Grammy Awards postponed the 2022 ceremony. According to the company, BTS had originally prepared everything to attend the 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony. However, they decided to stop the discussion after knowing that Grammy Awards 2022 had been postponed.

“BTS was planning to attend the Grammy Awards. However, after being informed about the 2022 ceremony postponement, we decided to halt all US travel plans for the group.”

Previously on the same day BTS announced to have canceled their US trip, Grammy Awards had released an official statement that they had officially postponed the 2022 ceremony.

Both CBS and the Recording Academy concluded that it’s too risky to carry on with the GRAMMYS’ original schedule. Therefore, the 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony is officially postponed, and the academy will give further updates soon.

The REASON Why GRAMMY Awards Postponed Their 2022 Award Ceremony

Furthermore, international media reported that the Grammy Awards postponed the 2022 ceremony due to the COVID-19 surge in Los Angeles.

According to the reports, the 2022 Grammy Awards venue was the “Crypto.com Arena” (formerly Staples Center) located in Downtown Los Angeles. The Recording Academy had originally planned to conduct the ceremony in front of a full audience in this traditional venue. However, the recent surge of Omicron COVID-19 in the US caused artists and executives to voice their concerns and hesitancy to appear in the ceremony. That is why both GRAMMYS and CBS eventually postponed the 2022 Grammy Awards.

When Will BTS Appear in the GRAMMYS?

Finally, according to Variety, since both GRAMMYS and CBS hoped to have a full ceremony with a live audience, there’s a chance the 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony will move to April or May. That is why it is also highly possible that they will no longer hold the ceremony at the “Crypto.com Arena”.
