Bad news for medical series’ and Go Yoon Jung’s fans. Apparently, the new Korean drama, “Resident Playbook,” has encountered challenges so difficult that they have to keep postponing the release date of this “Hospital Playlist” spin-off. As a result, tvN will not be releasing the series this year. So, what happened to the “Resident Playbook”? Join us in understanding all the issues happening in the new Korean drama better.
“Resident Playbook” Failed to Secure Release Date This Year
The spin-off of “Hospital Playlist” starring Go Yoon Jung, “Resident Playbook,” has failed to secure a release date this year.
On May 16, Korean media outlet SPOTV News exclusively reported that it would be hard for the new Korean drama to air in the near future. The previous issues involving mass resignation in the medical community had caused the inevitable delay in the series’ release date. Therefore, it is unlikely that the new Korean drama will air this year.
Previously, “Resident Playbook” was supposed to air after “Queen of Tears” concluded. tvN even released a teaser at the beginning of the year to build anticipation for this “Hospital Playlist” spin-off.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing conflicts in the South Korean medical field, the “Resident Playbook” production team has been postponing the series’ release date. That’s because this conflict involved the government’s policy to expand medical school quotas, which led to mass resignations by residents. Therefore, this new Korean drama suffered from massive negative public sentiments for “dramatizing” the lives of the residents.
For now, we will have to wait for the issue to die down while expecting the broadcast of this series and “Hospital Playlist” season 3.
Which New Korean Drama Replaces the “Hospital Playlist” Spin-Off?
Following the postponement of the “Resident Playbook” release date, tvN revealed that Jung Ryeo Won and Wi Ha Joon’s romance drama, “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon,” would take the slot. After that, a new office investigative drama starring Shin Ha Kyun and Jin Goo, “The Auditors,” will be the successor.
“The Auditors” is an office investigation drama set in the audit department of the corrupt JU Construction Company. It showcases the sharp audit team leader and the warm-hearted audit team members’ chaotic teamwork. The cast includes Shin Ha Kyun, Lee Jung Ha, and Jin Goo, with the first broadcast scheduled for early July.
