Park Jin-Hee or Secret Number Jinny has an interesting, long story about how she found her way to Kpop Stardom. Only a few people notice the fact that Secret Number Jinny was trained alongside the future members of BLACKPINK before she left YG Entertainment.
Jinny in Early Life
Born in Los Angeles, California, in 1998, Jinny can speak fluently both in English and Korean. She attended Seoul International School, where English is spoken in class.
She grew up loving pop stars like Justin Bieber, as well as Kpop artists such as Big Bang and 2NE1, especially G-Dragon and CL. Following her idols’ path, she became a trainee under YG Entertainment, one of the biggest South Korean labels that manage Big Bang and 2NE1, among others.
Jinny Training Time
Not only she is bilingual, but Jinny also possesses a talent for songwriting. During her training time, she was considered to be a top future contender at YG. For years, the agency teased new girl groups saying as “future 2NE1” featuring four young female trainees dancing.
Jinny was trained alongside the future BLACKPINK members -Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa-, and also Miyeon ((G)I-DLE), Lee Seo-Yeon (Fromis-9), Kim Eun-bi, and Jung Hanna. YG gave the name “Pink Punk” to the trainees and assumed to be the group name upon debut.
Appeared as Independent Artist
After 5 years of training, Jinny left YG in 2017. A year after, she reappeared on a survival show Produce 48. Viewers speculated that Jinny would dominate the show due to her impressive history.
Despite her well-received performance of Chung Ha’s Rollercoaster, Jinny didn’t make it to the final stage. She was eliminated in episode 5.
However, Jinny didn’t give up and made her own way by connecting with her fans through social media and uploaded her own songs on Soundcloud.
Jinny in Secret Number
All her hard work paid off at the end of 2019 when announced as the first member of Secret Number, a girl group under Vine Entertainment.
Jinny role in Secret Number
With her talents, Jinny is appointed as the main rapper as well as lead dancer and vocalist.
On Secret Number debut single, Who Dis? Jinny appears wearing her confident and catchy attitude. In the rap lines written by Jinny herself, she said, “I’m gonna be a star.”
