Lee Chae Min: Rising Star Leading Korean Actor Rankings

Young actor Lee Chae-min’s incredible journey has captured the nation’s attention. According to the Korean Business Research Institute, Lee topped their September 2025 actor brand reputation big data analysis with a remarkable score of 4,518,517 points, surpassing famous veterans such as Lee Byung-hun, Lee Jin-wook, Ma Dong-seok, and rising star Choo Young-woo.
This success is closely tied to his starring role in tvN’s hit drama “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” (also known as “The Tyrant’s Chef”), where his emotional and nuanced performance earned widespread praise.
The drama became the highest-rated tvN series of the year with a nationwide audience share of 15.8%. The series quickly rose to #1 on Netflix’s Non-English TV charts and has topped the category for four consecutive weeks.
Notably, Lee Chae Min’s rise was almost a “life-reversing drama.” Initially, another actor was cast for the male lead, but he dropped out of the project. Lee was called in with little preparation time. Despite this, he flawlessly embodied the dual roles of a ruthless tyrant king and a connoisseur of gourmet cuisine, stunning viewers and critics alike. This earned him the nickname “acting monster.”
