“Single’s Inferno Season 5” isn’t playing it safe. Netflix’s hit Korean dating show is back with its boldest season yet, breaking its own global ratings record by featuring contestants who are more blunt than ever.

With intense flirtations, fast-paced relationships, and heightened emotions in a short time, this season keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The mid-season arrival of two “double game changers,” Jo I Geon and Lee Ha Eun, further adds to the chaos—turning passion, jealousy, and attraction into a true emotional battleground.

According to Netflix Top 10 data as of February 4, 2026, “Single’s Inferno Season 5” recorded 3.9 million views, calculated by total watch time divided by run time. This translates to 37.3 million hours watched between January 26 and February 1, 2026. It’s allowed the show to maintain its #2 spot on Netflix’s Global Non-English TV Shows chart for two consecutive weeks.

In addition to the global ranking, “Single’s Inferno 5” also entered the regional Top 10 in 26 countries, including Taiwan, Brazil, Japan, and Morocco, and ranked 1 in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore. It proves that Season 5 has a distinct global appeal, driven by more intense dynamics and emotional stakes that resonate deeply across cultures.

If you’re wondering why “Single’s Inferno Season 5” feels so much more addictive than previous seasons, the answer lies in the contestants’ boldness. Unlike previous seasons, where contestants often held back or played hard to get, this season has earned the nickname “Season of Honesty.”

The singles on Inferno Island this season are noticeably more expressive, showing interest and jealousy without hesitation, making every interaction feel impossible to ignore.

Unexpected Turns at Every Episode

From episode 1 to episode 10, the contestants delivered a series of unexpected and intense romantic moments that kept viewers guessing. One moment that particularly captivated fans was Shin Hyeon-woo’s surprising decision in episode 10.

After winning the Paradise ticket, he chose not to use it, knowing that Go-eun had already been chosen by I-geon, who secured first place in the game. Guided by his strong feelings for her, Go-eun herself remained the emotional center of his journey. It’s the first time this has happened in Single’s Inferno, so it came as a surprise to fans.

This decision left viewers questioning the true depth of Shin Hyeon-woo’s emotions until the end of the season, while also fueling curiosity about where Go-eun’s heart would ultimately lead.

Intense Moments Into a Viral Hit

The intense romance surrounding Su-been and Hee-sun began to intensify in episode 8, as their previously volatile relationship finally found momentum. During their Paradise date, the two contestants openly displayed their mutual attraction, with frequent physical contact fueling excitement and tense anticipation among viewers rooting for their relationship, adding another layer of intensity to the season.

However, the dynamics became more complicated during Seung-il and Mina Sue’s bowling date. The atmosphere changed when Mina Sue openly expressed her interest in Su-been, turning the situation into a subtle yet intense love triangle.

With Mina Sue’s feelings still uncertain, viewers wondered where her heart would ultimately settle and whether Su-been’s relationship with Hee-sun could withstand the increasing pressure.

Panel Commentary Reactions

This season’s “Singles Inferno” panelists are still the same faces as the previous season: Dex, Lee Da-hee, Hong Jin-kyung, Jung Han-hae, and Cho Kyu-hyun. That said, their commentary feels much livelier and more incisive as the contestants’ characters become more dynamic and bold in expressing their feelings. The contestants’ spontaneous attitudes elicit a variety of panelist reactions—from satirical remarks to almost philosophical reflections.

Cho Kyu-hyun, for example, commented,

“Mina has come to her senses, and now Min-gee is losing it?”

While Dex humorously chimed in,

“A demon is jumping to another season.”

At another point, Hong Jin-kyung remarked that,

“Emotional conflicts should be allowed to subside naturally, instead of being constantly heated up for the sake of drama.”

Hong Jin-kyung then revealed behind-the-scenes stories, recounting that the production team often called the panelists during filming breaks whenever their comments were deemed too harsh toward Mina Sue. Speaking on behalf of the panelists, she said:

“If our comments were too harsh, we were instructed to speak more gently.”

She said, while also apologizing for how the situation unfolded.

When Dating Shows Redefine Emotional Honesty

Korean dating shows are no longer just entertainment. They reflect a clear shift from romance to an emotional dimension, where honesty takes center stage. What matters now is who is most willing to express their feelings. It has the potential to shape how viewers view emotional expression in real-life relationships. As the final two episodes air on Tuesday, February 10, all eyes are on how their love story will ultimately unfold.
