On October 27, Netflix Korea announced the star-studded cast lineup for its upcoming webtoon-based project, “Mercy for None”. The announcement showed a list of South Korea’s prominent actors, including So Ji Sub, Heo Joon Ho, Ahn Kil Kang, Lee Bum Soo, Gong Myung, Choo Young Woo, Jo Han Chul, even Cha Seung Won and Lee Joon Hyuk.
Previously known as “Plaza Wars”, Netflix “Mercy for None” is a new Korean drama based on a famous webtoon by writer Oh Se Hyung. The production team initially announced the title to be the same as the webtoon, but then Netflix confirmed the cast lineup with a revised title.

What’s more exciting is that “Mercy for None” new Korean drama will be the first leading role for So Ji Sub in Netflix original project. Director Choi Sung Eun, who previously worked on “Tong: Memories,” will lead the new drama. Fans have greatly anticipated their fantastic collaboration with Yong Film and Studio N production houses.
Storyline and Characters
Set in the dark and intense background of Seoul’s downtown, Netflix “Mercy for None” new Korean drama depicts story of So Ji Sub as he embarks on a journey to avenge his younger brother.
Revenge of the Brothers
So Ji Sub portrays the character Gi Joon, a former gangster who must face the sudden death of his younger brother. Although he previously slashed his own heels and swore never to return to the world of gangsters, he then becomes the center of an epic battle to uncover what’s behind his brother’s death. As it is So Ji Sub’s comeback after 11 years to noir action, fans have been crazy over his intense action scenes and portrayal of Gi Joon’s revenge journey.
Playing the role of Gi Joon’s younger brother, Gi Seok, is prominent actor Lee Joon Hyuk of “Stranger”. Gi Seok once left Gi Joon to grow his organization named Joowon into a corporation. After he becomes Joowon’s executive director, Gi Seok suddenly dies mysteriously, triggering a new case and Gi Joon’s revenge. Unfortunately, since Gi Seok must die early in the series, Lee Joon Hyuk will simply make a special appearance for the role.
The Gangster Corporations
Veteran actors Heo Joon Ho and Ahn Kil Kang will take on the role of the leaders of two largest organizations: Joowon and its rival, Bongsan. Meanwhile, rising actor Gong Myung will become Bongsan’s successor, Joon Mo, for his exciting comeback from the military.
Interestingly, Joowon’s CEO Lee Joo Won has a son, Geum Son, who has been distancing himself from the organization and acting as an incumbent prosecutor. But later on, he will show an unexpected desire that will spice up the new Korean drama. Actor Choo Young Woo will play this role.
Still, no gang organization will be perfect without cleaners.
Enters actor Lee Bum Soo, portraying the character Shim Sung Won. He is the CEO of Enclean, an organization in charge of cleaning up these gang corporations’ crime scenes. Though his role may seem trivial, this character holds one of the mysteries with his involvement in Gi Seok’s death.
Additionally, the famous villain’s right-hand man in “Reborn Rich”, Jo Han Chul, will again showcase his cunningness. This time, he will portray Lee Jong Won’s closet aide, Sung Chul.
Finally, actor Cha Seung Won will also make a special appearance on Netflix “Mercy for None” new Korean drama. He will act as the mysteriously powerful Mr. Kim, who ensures the two organizations maintain balance in their coexistence.
When’s the Release Date?
