Netflix has confirmed the production of its upcoming remake of “Untold Scandal” and its main cast: Son Ye Jin, Ji Chang Wook, and Nana.
The series will have the backdrop of the Joseon era. Its captivating story blends forbidden love affairs, broken hearts, and tragedy.
Netflix “Scandal” – A Remake of “Untold Scandal”
“Scandal” is the new remake of the Korean film directed by Lee Jae Yong in 2003, “Untold Scandal.” The story is a live adaptation of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’s French novel “Dangerous Liaisons.”
It tells the story of Madam Cho, a renowned seductress, and Jo Won, Joseon’s notorious playboy. They engage in a rude and dangerous love bet to ruin an innocent woman’s life, Hui Yeon, who will become the concubine of Madam Cho’s husband.
“Scandal” Cast and Characters
The new Netflix K-drama series “Scandal” cast includes Son Ye Jin, Ji Chang Wook, and Nana. They will portray interesting characters in this historical romance drama series.
Son Ye Jin transforms into Lady Cho, a noblewoman with extraordinary charm. When she knows her husband will take Hui Yeon as his concubine, she boldly challenges her admirer, Cho Won, to play a seduction game with Hui Yeon.
Ji Chang Wook plays Cho Won, a notorious playboy who doesn’t believe in love. Many women have been captivated by his charisma and charms. He agrees to her challenge to win Lady Cho’s heart and is determined to win the bet.
Nana plays Hui Yeon, a widow who has lived a pure life and struggles to resist Cho Won’s seduction. However, the more she pushes him, the more she is drawn to him. Nana will play a character who struggles with complex emotions.
In addition, idol actors SF9’s Chani and SECRET’s Han Sun Hwa are rumored to join the cast lineup.
Production
The upcoming Netflix series “Scandal” will be the new collaboration between director Jung Ji Woo and two writers, Lee Seung Young and Ahn Hye Song.
Director Jung Ji Woo is the director of the hit drama “Somebody” and the film “Tune in for Love.” Meanwhile, Lee Seung Young’s current work is the JTBC’s series “The Art of Negotiation.”
The Netflix series will reportedly start filming in the first half of 2025. In addition, it is set to release in 2026 with eight episodes.
