Actor Song Kang Ho became the first Korean actor and fifth Korean jury at Cannes Film Festival.
One of the prominent movie actors from South Korea, Song Kang Ho, will judge the official selection of films at the 74th Cannes International Film Festival 2021 next month. His upcoming role marks him as the first Korean actor and the fifth Korean as the Cannes Film Festival’s jury member.
Previously, South Koreans who took part as one of the members of Cannes’s jury are:
- Director Shin Sang Ok (1994).
- Lee Chang Dong (2009).
- Actress Jeon Do Yeon (2014).
- Park Chan Wook (2017).
American filmmaker Spike Lee who led the panel of juries, will announce the complete list of juries by next week. Moreover, besides being a jury member, actor Song Kang Ho will attend the premiere of his latest film, Emergency Declaration, directed by Han Jae Rim.
Besides actor Song Kang Ho, many Korean movie stars are invited to the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. They are Lee Byung-hun, Jeon Jeon Do-yeon, Hwang Jung-min, Hwang Jung-min, Hyun-bin, and Ryu Seung-wan.
The prestigious event of the 74th Cannes Film Festival in 2021 will took place from July 6 to 17. After the event absence in 2020 due to Covid-19, the event will be held in a physical event. The guests will be allowed to enter the country under new regulations (amidst the pandemic). However, they must prove complete vaccination and a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before travel.
