BTS continues to reign supreme as the Global Top K-pop Artist of 2024. The septet claims the top spot after another year of phenomenal success. Right behind them, Stray Kids (#3) and NewJeans (#5) have also made significant marks on the global streaming stage.
As for the Global Top K-pop Songs of 2024, this year’s list showcases the genre’s ability to blend various sounds and styles seamlessly.
Leading the pack is Jimin’s “Who,” which not only topped the charts but also joined Spotify’s prestigious BILLIONS Club after maintaining a strong presence on the platform.
In second place is Jungkook’s “Seven (feat. Latto),” followed by his hit “Standing Next To You.” V‘s soulful R&B track “Love Me Again” comes in at #4, while the breakout sensation ILLIT takes the #5 spot with their infectious song “Magnetic.”
A Year of Milestones: Billion-Stream Hits and Breakout Stars
2024 was a milestone year for K-pop, marked by several songs entering Spotify’s BILLIONS Club. Jungkook’s “Seven (feat. Latto)” made history by crossing 2 billion streams, and “Standing Next To You” followed suit as his second track to achieve this feat. Another major achievement came from Jimin’s “Like Crazy,” which ranked #8 on the Global Top K-pop Songs list and also made its way into the BILLIONS Club, joining a select group of K-pop tracks.
This year also saw the rise of fresh talent, with ILLIT and BABYMONSTER. The girl groups made their mark on the global K-pop scene this year.
ILLIT’s “Magnetic” earned them a top 5 spot and demonstrated the growing influence of new artists within the genre.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER, the group from RADAR Korea, made waves with their powerful song “SHEESH,” which landed at #15 on the most-streamed K-pop songs list. The group’s growing fanbase and unique sound solidify their place as one of 2024’s most exciting new acts.
Additionally, wave to earth, an indie rock band, enters the list at #17, showcasing the expanding footprint of K-Indie on the global stage. As K-pop continues to evolve, the increasing prominence of K-Indie signals a broader acceptance of diverse Korean music genres among global listeners.
Iconic Collaborations Fueling Global K-pop Expansion
Collaborations have also been a major theme in 2024, with notable cross-genre releases that have broadened K-pop’s appeal to international audiences.
ROSÉ‘s unexpected partnership with Bruno Mars on the “APT” track earned the #6 spot on the most-streamed K-pop songs list. At the same time, LISA‘s collaboration with ROSALÍA, “New Woman (feat. ROSALÍA),” made a huge impact, securing the #16 position.
These collaborations highlight K-pop’s global reach and its ability to transcend cultural boundaries through powerful musical partnerships. Whether a solo artist or a group collaboration, K-pop continues breaking down barriers and captivating audiences worldwide.
The Power of K-pop Fandoms: A Global Phenomenon
Jungjoo Park, Head of Music at Spotify Korea, reflects that the unwavering fan support has been instrumental in K-pop’s rise to the top of global music charts.
“Behind every K-Pop milestone and chart-topping hit is the undeniable passion of its fandom.
Beyond streaming the music, the fans have played a pivotal role in shaping K-Pop into the cultural phenomenon it is on Spotify today. That’s why Spotify Wrapped is more than a reflection on the music that defined our year.
It’s a celebration of all the ways the fans show up for the artists they love — from propelling breakout artists, driving milestone moments, and influencing the ongoing growth of the genre.”
