“Squid Game” Actor Oh Young Soo Faces Charges of Sexual Misconduct

On November 25, Korean media reported that Squid Game actor Oh Young Soo had faced charges and accusations of sexual misconduct.

According to the report, the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office had indicted the actor without detention on November 24 for inappropriately touching a woman’s body.

What Happened?

Further in the report, explanations stated that the charges against the actor first appeared in December 2021.

The sexual misconduct happened in mid-2017, when veteran award-winning actor Oh Young-Soo had “allegedly touched a woman’s body inappropriately”. However, it was until December 2021 that the alleged victim decided to press charges. The police then reviewed the report and forwarded the case with an indictment request in February 2022 to higher authorities.

Yet, after the prosecution for a supplementary investigation requested the police to interview the witnesses and review the lawyer’s advice, they decided to close the case in April 2022 with no charges.

Today, the victim decided to file an appeal to the prosecution office, so they decided to reinvestigate the case. During this second investigation, the veteran actor reportedly denied all charges against him.

The “Squid Game” star stated that what he did was merely guiding the victim around the lake. At the time, he held the victim’s hand, indeed, and apologized immediately because the victim claimed she wouldn’t make it an issue.

**The Arrest Report of “Squid Game” Actor Oh Young-Soo**

Following the indictment report, rumors circulated on November 25 that “Squid Game” veteran actor had been arrested for sexual misconduct. However, JTBC report mentioned that the actor was handed over for trial after prosecutors determined that he had other serious physical contact besides holding the victim’s hands.
