Once again, “Squid Game” has made historical winning and bagged major awards at the 2022 Emmy Awards!
“Squid Game” Made Historical Winnings at 2022 Emmy Awards
On September 12 (ET), the 2022 Emmy Awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles, California. This year, the “Squid Game” team received 14 nominations and became the first non-English show nominated for Emmy Awards 2022. The “Squid Game” team that attended the ceremony were director Hwang Dong Hyuk and “Squid Game” cast members; actors Lee Jung Jae, Jung Ho Yeon, Oh Young Soo, and Park Hae Soo.
“Squid Game” team won two prominent awards for “Outstanding Directing For Drama Series” and “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series,” from 14 nominations. Other nominations are for the “Squid Game” cast; Jung Ho Yeon for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series,” and Park Hae Soo and Oh Young Soo for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.”
Director Hwang Dong Hyuk Wins “Outstanding Directing For Drama Series”
In his nomination for “Outstanding Directing For Drama Series,” Director Hwang Dong Hyuk won against the directors of “Better Call Saul,” “Ozark,” “Severance,” “Succession,” and “Yellowjackets.” This is the first-ever win for a non-English language drama in this category.
In his award acceptance speech, director Hwang Dong Hyuk said,
“People keep telling me that I made history, but I don’t think I made history by myself. Because it was you who opened up the doors for “Squid Game.” Inviting us here tonight at the Emmys. I have to say we all made history together. I truly hope that “Squid Game” won’t be the last non-English series to be here at the Emmys, and I also hope this won’t be my last Emmy either. I’ll be back with Season 2.”

Lee Jung Jae Wins “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series”
Meanwhile, prominent actor Lee Jung Jae who recently went viral due to his past scandals, managed to strive and take home the “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series.”
In this category, he won against Jason Batemen, Brian Cox, Bob Odenkirk, Adam Scott, and Jeremy Strong. In addition, actor Lee Jung Jae became the first Asian actor to win the award category for his role as Gi Hun in “Squid Game.”
In his acceptance speech, he thanked the Television Academy, Netflix, Hwang Dong Hyuk, and the “Squid Game” team. He also delivered a special message in Korean to his beloved ones and fans in Korea,
“To everyone watching from Korea, my friends, family, and dearest fans, I want to share this joy with you. Thank you.”

Earlier, at the “74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards,” another “Squid Game” cast, Lee Yoo Mi, bagged an award for the “Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series” category. And “Squid Game” production crew also won “Outstanding Production Design,” “Outstanding Stunt Performance,” and “Outstanding Visual Effects.” With this winning, the “Squid Game” team bags 6 awards at the 2022 Emmy awards.
