Then, defeating the powerful competitors in the nomination, “Squid Game” becomes the FIRST Korean drama to win Gotham Awards 2021 under “Breakthrough Series” over 40 minutes.
Director Hwang Dong Hyuk: “This is a Miracle!”
Furthermore, attending the award ceremony in New York on behalf of the cast and crew were actors Lee Jung Jae, Jung Ho Yeon, CEO Kim Ji Yeon, and “Squid Game” director Hwang Dong Hyuk.
Then, during his acceptance speech, director Hwang Dong Hyuk shared that “Squid Game” is a miracle to him. That’s because it took 12 years to make the show after receiving so many criticisms and rejections.
