With the announcement of Netflix “Squid Game: The Challenge”, it apparently triggers huge issue behind the reality show. Check out the following details about the issue and where to sign up for “Squid Game: The Challenge” – IF you’re still interested.
Netflix Announces “Squid Game: The Challenge” Reality Show – A Beginning of the Squid Game Universe
The Squid Game Universe has finally begun! Just as previously mentioned by Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, Netflix planned on creating a whole new universe only for their blockbuster series, “Squid Game”.
Along with these facts about Season 2 and plans for Season 3, Netflix is working on a new reality show based on the series “Squid Game: The Challenge”.
On June 14 local time, Netflix officially announces the upcoming release of “Squid Game: The Challenge”. It is a reality show based on their blockbuster series, “Squid Game”, adapted into a more applicable survival game.
“The fascinating story and symbolic imagery of director Hwang Dong Hyuk’s ‘Squid Game’ wowed the entire world.
As a result, we will be transforming this fictional world into reality.”
– Netflix Senior Vice President, Brandon Riegg.
What is The Game About?
According to the announcement, Netflix plans to create one of the biggest games worldwide. The reality show involves the biggest number of contestants, just like the original “Squid Game”, and the biggest prize money offered to the contestants.
“Squid Game: The Challenge” invites 456 contestants all around the world. They will all participate in 10-episode-long survival games, which consist of the original games in the series as well as some additional games from Netflix. At the end of the game, the winning participant with go home with a grand prize of 4.56 million USD.
Basically, this game is the real-life version of “Squid Game” series, WITHOUT anyone being shot to death.
The HUGE Issue Behind Squid Game Reality Show
While the reality show has indeed attracted the attention the public all around the world, “Squid Game: The Challenge” has also triggered a huge issue.
The creation of “Squid Game” was to raise the issue of capitalism. It is a series that depicts the tragic fate of the people who desperately try to escape debts and capitalism. Wrapping such a severe issue in a beautifully packaged series that is full of dramatic scenes is the central aspect why “Squid Game” managed to steal the hearts of viewers worldwide.
But now, Netflix decided to turn this perfectly packaged criticism into a reality show. According to fans, by bringing “Squid Game” into a reality show, Netflix denies all the messages the series wanted to covey in the first place. Instead, they are basically doing what the VIPs were doing in the series: happily watching the people fighting and striving desperately for the prize money.
why the fuck is squid game in real life rn

who the fuck at netflix was like, "hey, remember when we did that show, squid game, which was about people desperately trying to escape the crushing burden of capitalism? yeah, let's do that again but in real life."
…Wasn’t the whole point of the show the fact that the game only exists due to how screwed up capitalist society is in creating wealth inequalities and hardships for everyday people?

Squid Game: this is a show about how the lower class are so crippled that they will literally fight to the death for a Band-Aid to their issue, all for the pleasure of the very elite that put them in this situation to begin with

At the same time, some other fans believed that the original “Squid Game” series’ appeal lies in the fact that all those people are willing to join the deadly game. Therefore, since “Squid Game: The Challenge” has nothing to do with death at all, it will simply become your mediocre survival reality show.
Why are y’all so upset by this. The fictional Squid Game was wrong bc they literally MURDERED the losers. It dehumanized debtors and the poor for the entertainment of the elite. Netflix’s Squid Game is just a game show. Y’all gonna start crying about the Price is Right too?

The reason why everyone was into Squid Games because they all were dying if they lost the game. Netflix not gonna have people die IRL so what's the draw. We already been watching the Challenge for nearing two decades. What's the difference here? https://t.co/1hnZkd0JA6
