It is sad but truly unavoidable that NJZ (NewJeans) members finally decided to proceed with their temporary hiatus after ComplexCon performance 2025.
On March 23, 2025, on the last day of ComplexCon in Hong Kong, members of NJZ (NewJeans) officially announced that they would temporarily stop all their activities and go on a hiatus. The members also said that they decided to make the decision to honor the court’s ruling for ADOR’s injunction trial.
Previously, on March 21, the Seoul Central District Court decided to rule against NJZ (NewJeans) members for ADOR’s injunction trial. They had granted ADOR’s request to ban all activities and promotions of NJZ (NewJeans) members in advertising, stage performance, and music outside the company.
Therefore, it means that the Seoul Court has taken ADOR’s side for the moment. They believe that since the court has yet to make any decision on the legality of their contract termination case, it will be inappropriate for NJZ (NewJeans) members to proceed with any form of activities outside of the company.
That is why, after their performance on the final day of ComplexCon Hong Kong, NJZ (NewJeans) members eventually announced their hiatus.
NJZ (NewJeans) Hiatus: A Temporary “Pit Stop”
Furthermore, during their speech at the ComplexCon performance, NJZ (NewJeans) members confidently stated that the hiatus was only temporary. Just like their latest track, “Pit Stop,” while the members will be taking just a short break for the moment, it doesn’t mean a forever goodbye for NJZ (NewJeans). After all, they needed the time to focus on sorting out everything about the lawsuit.
Moreover, NJZ (NewJeans) members have long realized they would be taking a dangerous and challenging path by leaving ADOR this way. That is why taking care of the lawsuit while going on official activities and promotion simultaneously has also taken a toll on their physical and mental health.
Hence, NJZ (NewJeans) members decided to go on hiatus for now so they can rise even stronger tomorrow.
“Looks like today’s performance will be our last for a little while. We’ve made the decision to take a break from all activities for now out of respect for the court’s decision.
It wasn’t something we came to lightly, but we truly believe it’s the right step for us at this moment.

ADOR’s Response on NJZ (NewJeans) Hiatus
Meanwhile, responding to their hiatus announcement, ADOR stated their deep regret. The company still wishes to meet the group and discuss their possible future collaboration.
“We deeply regret both the decision to press ahead with performances under a name other than ‘NewJeans’ despite the court’s ruling, and the unilateral declaration of suspension of activities. We hope to meet with the artists as soon as possible to discuss their future together.”
