YG Entertainment Quietly Removes BIGBANG and BLACKPINK Members from Official Website

Two of the biggest Kpop legends of YG Entertainment have reportedly disappeared from the company’s official website.

On January 11, fans noticed that YG Entertainment’s ARTIST page of its official website suddenly seemed significantly empty. Apparently, the company had removed the names of all individual BLACKPINK members: JENNIE, ROSÉ, JISOO, and LISA, from the website’s artist lineup.

In addition to BLACKPINK members, YG removed the legendary Kpop group BIGBANG and all its members.

This removal is a follow-up action after BLACKPINK members decided to leave the company, deciding to stay with YG only for BLACKPINK’s activity as a group. Jennie decided to start her own label, ODDATELIER. Meanwhile, Jisoo reportedly joined hands with her brother for a new agency of her own. At the same time, Lisa thrives with her solo activities, building her global reputation independently.

The only member who many thought would renew the individual contract with YG Entertainment is BLACKPINK Rosé. However, recent updates showed that even Rosé had decided not to renew individual contracts with YG Entertainment. Instead, she is now preparing a solo comeback in collaboration with various stars in the music industry, including Columbia Records CEO and Chairman Ron Fay and various international music producers.

What Happened?

So, what really happened behind this sudden development? Does it mean that YG Entertainment’s reign is eventually falling?

With the disappearance of their names, it has finally become official that BLACKPINK members have all decided not to renew their individual contracts. While they will continue their legacy as BLACKPINK, the members are now free to explore their individual interests without dealing with the company’s complicated chains and bureaucracy.

As for BIGBANG, while nothing has been official up to this point, speculations emerged that BIGBANG is working on claiming its own rights and activities.

With T.O.P. leaving and Seungri’s unfathomable scandal, BIGBANG now only has three active members: G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Seungri. Each member boasts worldwide popularity in their own field, individually or under BIGBANG’s name.

Therefore, just like what happened to GOT7 and INFINITE, BIGBANG may be working behind the scenes to claim their own rights and trademarks. After all, apparently YG Entertainment’s right to this Kpop legend is also ending this year.

So, what will become of YG after losing their most legendary Kpop groups? Will the company’s reign in the Kpop industry be ending very soon? Can they survive solely based on the controversial new rookie, BABYMONSTER, despite having very little promotion? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
